The family of Alden Butch Skow would like to thank everyone for
the cards, owers, food, memorials, and kind words following his
recent passing. The Alzheimers and dementia journey is challeng-
ing and we truly appreciate the patience and kindness shown to
Butch over the past few years by extended family, friends, neighbors
and the entire community. Many thanks to Darrell Rusher and
Marvin Meyer for their special friendship as his disease progressed.
With the support of Hospice, Butch was able to return home for his
nal day. We cannot express how important this was to him and
to the family. Theresa Silbaugh, our sister-in-law and aunt, was a
guardian angel to us all in providing tender loving care and hospice
support. Thank you to Unity Point Hospital staff in Fort Dodge for
their compassion and efforts in helping us bring Butch home and
making him comfortable in his nal hours. Thank you also to Dr.
Suriar and the staff of the Humboldt Hospital for the awesome care
provided to Butch in recent years. Many thanks to Pastor Raether
for his frequent visits before and after Butchs passing, and for the
touching memorial service tailored to his love of motorcycles. We
especially appreciate the services of Gerry Christensen, organist,
and Juanitas nephew, Scott Strachan, the soloist for the funeral
service. Thank you also to Kelmar Catering for providing the lunch
after the service, and to Zion Lutheran Church members for their as-
sistance with the meal. We appreciate the services of Ubben Lentz
Funeral Home and especially Jess Ubben for her sincere and kind-
hearted assistance. We were touched by the attention to detail and
incorporation of Butchs love of motorcycles in the arrangements.
Your business is truly an asset to the community. Last but not least,

3-INGREDIENT PULLED PORK
INGREDIENTS:
1 (2 pound) pork shoulder roast
1 (12 ounce) can of root beer
1 (18 ounce) bottle of barbecue sauce
8 hamburger buns
DIRECTIONS:
Place the pork tenderloin in a slow cooker and
pour the can of root beer over the meat. Cover
and cook on low for 6 hours or until pork shreds
easily with a fork.
After pork has cooked, drain and discard the root
beer. Shred the pork and place it back in the slow
cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork
and stir to combine. Serve immediately or keep
warm in slow cooker until ready to serve. Serve
on hamburger buns.

The Board of Education of the Humboldt Community School District wishes to announce
that the policy of providing lifetime activity passes to all senior citizens aged 65 and over
will be available again this year. Residents of the Humboldt Community School District are
eligible to receive these complimentary passes.
These passes entitle the recipient to attend any school activity without charge, with the
exception of the high school musical, high school play, tournaments, conference activities
or other special events which may be announced. Passes must be obtained at 23 3rd St.

3. Bids will be opened at 4:00 pm on Wednesday August 20, 2014. The top 5 bidders will be
notied by telephone and invited to participate in a private auction. Attendance at the private
auction shall be limited to those persons and their representatives who have been notied and
invited. Bidders may attend by telephone with advance notice to Arends, Lee & Emick.
4. The top ve bidders who submit a written bid shall have the opportunity to bid at a private
auction held at the law ofce of Arends, Lee & Emick at 10:00 am on August 22, 2014.
5. The successful bidder must pay the purchase prices as follows:
a. Tender payment of 10% of the purchase price the day of the private auction.
b. Sign a purchase contract on the day of the auction pending nal settlement.
c. Pay the balance in full on or before September 30, 2014. Bidders must have
nancing pre-approved and provide evidence of pre-approval prior to the private
auction.
d. Possession shall be delivered to Buyers on September 30, 2014, subject to the
current cash rent farm lease.
