TOPIC: TOOLS & TECHNIQUES USED IN ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT

REQUIREMENT:
1. Prepare a case analysis of problems & issues in the application of tools and
techniques used in engineering management.
2. Follow the format of Case Analysis.
FORMAT OF CASE ANALYSIS
I. Case Title

II. Viewpoint background of the case including facts and issues geared towards
identification of the main problem.

III. Problem Statement it must be very specific and clear. There should only be one main
problem and sub-problems are not included. The problem of the case must be brief and
concise.

IV. Objectives of the Case Please make the objectives SMART
S- Specific R- Results oriented
M- Measurable T- Time bound
A Attainable

V. SWOT Analysis there was a mixed-up in the identification of the elements in the
matrix. For Strengths and Weaknesses, youre doing just fine but the Threats Statements
are weaknesses and the opportunities are actually strength.
Please remember that SW is internal factors while OT are external factors that are not
Controllable by management. These are environmental factors external to the company,
i.e., technology and advancement, consumer preferences, competitors, government
policies, etc.

VI. Alternative Courses of Actions
These are solutions to the problem and are mutually exclusive which means ACA can
independently solve the problem on hand. Also, please use technical terms and
strategies. HR solutions to the problem (instead of the term training, you may state as
Capacity Building)

VII. Recommendation
The recommendation must be taken from the ACAs you proposed.

VIII. Plan of Action
I noticed that your statements in the recommendation portions are actually plan of
action. State activities to actualize your recommendation.
