Program Specific Information (PSI)
The PSI data provides information to enable automatic configuration of the receiver todemultiplex and decode the various streams of programs within the multiplex.Program Specific Information is classified into four table structures as shown in thetable below. While these structures may be thought of as simple tables, they shall besegmented into sections and inserted in Transport Stream packets.
Structure NameStream TypeReserved PID #Description
ProgramAssociationTable(PAT)ITU-T Rec.H.222.0 |ISO/IEC 13818-10x00Contains completelist of all programsin the transportstream along withthe PID for the PMTfor each programProgram MapTable(PMT)ITU-T Rec.H.222.0 |ISO/IEC 13818-1Assigned inthePATcontains the PID for each of the channelsassociated with a particular  program Network InformationTable(NIT)PrivateAssigned inthePATOptional andcontents are private-can be used to provide usefulinformation aboutthe physical network such as FDMfrequencies,Transponder  Numbers, etc.Conditional AccessTable(CAT)ITU-T Rec.H.222.0 |ISO/IEC 13818-10x01Must be sent whenthe elementarystream is scrambled.Provides details of the scramblingsystem in use and providesthe PID values of the transport packetsthat contain the CAinformation (exactformat for thisinformation is notspecified)

Service Information (SI)
In addition to the PSI, data is needed to provide identification of services and events for the user In contrast with the PAT, CAT, and PMT of the PSI, which give informationonly for the multiplex in which they are contained (the actual multiplex), the additionalinformation can also be provided on services and events carried by different multiplexes, and even on other networks. This data is structured as nine tables by ETSI:
S.NoStructure NameReserved PID#Description
1Bouquet AssociationTable (BAT):0x11Provides information regarding bouquets. As well as giving thename of the bouquet, it providesa list of services for each bouquet.2Service DescriptionTable (SDT):0x11Contains data describing theservices in the system e.g. names of services, the service provider,etc.3Event InformationTable (EIT):0x12Contains data concerning events o programmes such as event name, start time, duration, etc.;The use of different descriptorsallows the transmission of differentkinds of event information e.g. for different service types.4Running Status Table(RST):0x13Gives the status of an event(running/not running). The RSTupdates this information and allowstimely automatic switching toevents.5Time and Date Table(TDT):0x14Gives information relating to the present time and date. Thisinformation is given in a separatetable due to the frequent updating of this information.6Time Offset Table(TOT):0x14Gives information relating to the present time and date and local timeoffset. This information isgiven in a separate table due to thefrequent updating of the timeinformation.7Stuffing Table (ST):0x13Is used to invalidate existingsections, for example at deliverysystem boundaries.8Selection InformationTable (SIT):0x1FIs used only in "partial" (i.e.recorded) bitstreams. It carries asummary of the SI information
