Consideration of a Resolution Confirming the City’s Appointments to Local Agencies: Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments, Fort Ord Reuse Authority, Monterey Peninsula Regional Water Authority, Monterey-Salinas Transit, and Transportation Agency of Monterey County, and others as determined. ______________________________________________________________________________
Adopt resolution confirming appointments.
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea has representation on several local agencies. This representation provides a link between the City and regional partners with the City’s participation defined in agency governance documents. The Mayor recommends appointments to those agencies as included in Exhibit “A” to the attached draft resolution.
In addition to their duties on the City Council, the Mayor and Council Members serve as the City’s representatives to local agencies as listed above. They also serve on Council subcommittees, and on ad hoc committees. In the past Council has confirmed each agency appointment individually over the course of the year. Staff recommends agendizing agency appointments as a single Council agenda, suggesting it be reviewed annually in May. Annually, the Mayor appoints the Vice Mayor in May, therefore agendizing agency appointments in May to coincide with City’s April City Council election cycle are recommended.
