December 14, 2011 // Why did the Department of Justice (DOJ) decline to prosecute Sen. John Ensign (R-NV)? It's a question to which the American people deserve an answer. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the DOJ and the FBI seeking documents from the government's investigation that would answer why Sen. Ensign was not criminally prosecuted, despite clear evidence he violated the law.

nterview timing?
I'm sitting here getting my mandatory discovery training from ut I should catch up with your later
today about the
ssue (I have more specific info) mid my call with Also, Lanny wanted me to pass along that he was a bit concerned about not having enough texture (in his words) about the Ensign matter. He was obviously aware that you guys were going down the path of declining any charges against Ensign, but didn't have all the reasons for that decision and didn't know about the circumstances that led to Ensign's public statement yesterday. He of course understands that Ensign's statement was not entirely predictable. And, he's directed me to tell you that this is really NOT a big deal, but simply that he wants more texture as we go forward on these types of cases, Will call you guys when I get out training.
