Welcome toJCI Fingal!
Congratulations on becoming a member of JCI Fingal. We’re glad that you’ve taken the first stepon your JCI journey by sending off your membership form. You’re probably now wondering “whathappens next?”. That is where we hope this information pack will be helpful. It shouldanswer some of your questions about JCI and what being a member is all about.JCI is a fantastic organisation and by talking to existing members you will find thateveryone’s experiences are different. What you will recognise is the inspiration andconfidence JCI constantly instils in its members to change their lives and that of others for thebetter; whether that be by changing career, setting up their own business, going for thatpromotion at work, learning skills they never though they could or making countless new friendsfrom around the world.Membership of JCI Fingal truly is what you make of it. We encourage “learning by doing” andconstantly find that the more our members put into the organisation, the more they get out. Joininga project team or committee gives you an additional advantage of getting to know and makingfriends with other JCI members (“Jaycees”) quicker. We understand that our members lead busy lives, but being actively involved in JCI does notnecessarily have to take up lots of time – you can take on as much or as little as you feel able.Just some of the opportunities (small and big) to take an active role in JCI include:Helping out on the night with the running of a training/business/social eventTaking on a role within a project teamLeading a project or eventBeing on a committee for one of our areas of opportunityBecoming a member of the local, national or international councilJCI Fingal had a fantastic year in 2009,organizing the European Multi-TwinningConference and entertaining guests from allover Europe. We also ran a table quiz, the JCIIreland regional BBQ and JCI Presenter. We’re planning on continuing that success in2010 and hope you’ll be a part of it.We look forward to seeing you at an eventsoon and remember we’re always here toanswer any questions this booklet does not.Be Better!
