Interconnections 
Electricity is bought and sold just like any other commodity. However, unlike othercommodities it cannot be stored so it must be consumed almost immediately after it isproduced. In the United States electricity markets are divided into three major“interconnections,” a complex system of high voltage transmission lines that distributeelectricity from generation stations to distribution centers, where power is sent alongsmaller distribution lines to cities and towns.There are three major interconnections in the U.S. as follows:
