M.Q.M.

’s Propagated Illusion

W hy people still support MQM, especially people in Karachi? This quest needs to
be answered to solve life's mysteries, to unveil dark open secret. Why are we
here? What’s our role? What was the Ideology of Pakistan? Perhaps a person would
be better off not delving at all, but that's not the human nature, nor the human
heart. Human nature is filled with curiosity; because of the curiosity Newton
discovered the law of Gravity. The glorious Qur'an mention in Surah Al-Hud (#11),
Verse #113, "And incline not to those who do wrong, or the Fire will seize you; and
ye have no protectors other than Allah, nor shall ye be helped”, so why don’t we
think whom we are supporting to? Why do people, especially Muslims just disregard
the Qur’an? Everyone should consider themselves as the agent of our future. We are
all capable of determining our own fate. But do we truly have any free will, when we
raise, when we fall, when to move, where to go or does a force larger than ourselves
force or bid us our direction? Is it evolution that takes us by the hand? Is it God who
intervenes; keeping us safe? Why do you die every day, every moment, when you
believe one day it is going to be true? Sometimes questions are more powerful than
answers.

I started my quest by asking people especially people from Karachi; whether they
support (vote for) M.Q.M.? Why? I was astonished to hear the answers. They were
only able to come up with three kinds of answers; the fear of being killed or brutality
which they have to face. The second point they have is that are also Urdu speaking
people. Last but not the least, that the work done in Karachi by MQM representative,
City nazim Mr. Mustafa Kamal.

Pakistan is the first country to get independence in the name of Religion. The
ideology behind the creation of Pakistan is that "There is no god but Allah", and they
fear no one but Allah. But unfortunately few Pakistani’s view differs from the
ideology of Pakistan. Many people replied that they only vote for M.Q.M. they fear
the torture, fear of death. But people lacks to understand that by voting for MQM
that individual person might live for that moment by then millions of people
including that person live under same fear. Everyone whom I asked this question
angrily replies that to actually perform it, is impossible, which leads me to think that
Mr. Imran Khan might be more courageous than what many of the ordinary Pakistani
thinks. People are not willing to take initiative, yet they hope for revolution. The
ideology of Pakistan can be understood by the couplet of Allama Iqbal, who gave the
idea of Pakistan, "If you wish to live the life of a Muslim, then it is not possible
except to live by the Quran." It is the rendering of the verses of the Quran from
Surah 7, verse 3 and surah 33 verse 2. Further in the Quran it is mentioned in Surah
20, verse 50 it says; “He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave to each (created) thing its
form and nature, and further, gave (it) guidance”. When it’s time of revolution it
comes at a cost. Singularity comes in exchange to do something against your very
nature to stand against the force much larger then you. It may seem hard or
perhaps impossible, but the goal is nothing short of generations’ preservation and
survival. The revolution is not sentimental. Like the history itself only knows the
hard facts of life's struggle with death. Only after you have served its needs
devotedly then all you can do is hope and trust, there may still remain some
glimmer, of the life you once knew. As the founder of Pakistan, Quiad-e-Azam,
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, conveyed the message to NWFP Muslim Students Federation
on April 1943, he said; “You have asked me to give a message. What message can I
give you? We have got the great message in the Quran for our guidance and
enlightenment.” Revolution is an imperfect and often violent process. A battle
between what exists, and what is yet to be born. In the middle of these birth pains,
morality loses its meaning. The question of good and evil reduced to one simple
choice: survive, or perish.

The past has been written in stone which cannot be altered. Were we destined for
this misery or is it what we have done to alter our destiny? It is our motives which
truly makes us unique. The good motives takes us to heaven, bad takes us to hell. If
you have a good motive you cannot fall for anything. With it we have a tiny but
potent chance to deny fate and only with it can we find our way back to happiness.
The mohajirs suffered in the past as a result people of Karachi supported M.Q.M.,
known as Mohajir Quami Moment at that time. They used the “Mohajir” placard and
drowned them. As a result of the violence erupted by MQM the industries moved
from Karachi and few shifted in the province of Punjab while many shifted in India
and other countries. Consequently, the direct loss of employment and economy in
Pakistan, especially in Karachi, yet people still waiting for a miracle? Lack of
knowledge and education leads people to discriminate each other. Why don’t people
think of Pakistan as a whole? Everyone should have their own entity but under one
category, Pakistan. A lot of new Islamic sects have originated from Pakistan, ever
wonder why? Why are we lacking the ability of negotiation and compromise? Why
do we still fight over the decision of glass being half full or half empty?

Few people think that Mr. Imran Khan is against Mohajirs, which leads them to
support M.Q.M. This theory of the people is absolutely baseless as they cannot
provide single authentic evidence which proves the allegation on Mr. Imran Khan’s
discrimination against Mohajirs. Consequently, people believe that if they are
against Mr. Imran khan then they ought to support M.Q.M.

Last but not the least, the category of people who supports M.Q.M., is the people
who praise the work done Mr. Mustafa Kamal. People who have little knowledge of
their surrounding can never be lead to this delusion, because they know that these
work had been initiated by city nazim (prior 2002 elections) of Karachi Mr. Namat
Ullah. Secondly, the materials that are being used are feeble or cheap material, as a
result a collapsed bridge within a month. Thirdly, the construction of roads are the
simplest way to leave the illusion on people’s mind that the authority is actually
working for them yet they can still be able to loot on that project. The quality of the
road can only be told when it has been tested on all four seasons. Fourthly, new
road are being build on top of the old road (without scratching the old one
completely), as a result the level of the roads are higher than the base of the house.
Consequently, during the rain the water comes into the home. Are people ignorant?
Or is it because of the illusion of knowledge propagated by M.Q.M.? For all his
bluster, it is the sad province of Public that they cannot choose their triumph. He
can only choose how he will stand when the call of destiny comes, hoping that he'll
have the courage to answer.

When the change comes, some species urge to migrate, a pull of the soul to a far
off place. The forgotten message comes calling the like-minded to take flight, and
congregate. In the beginning, there are always a discovery, a confusion of elements,
and a first snowfall of impossible change. The originators of the ideology of Pakistan
are not with us anymore, but surely we are aware of the ideology. Strange faces
made familiar, new nightmares to challenge sleep. Who should we trust? Whom to
feel safe with? Who can provide the justice to the justice? Only then comes, control,
the need to impose justice onto chaos through determination, through study,
through struggle. Only then can they hope to survive the cruel season. Quaid-e-
Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah said; "Every Muslim knows that the injunctions of the
Quran are not confined to religious and moral duties. Everyone except those who
are ignorant knows that the Quran is the general code of the Muslims. A religious,
social, civil, commercial, military, judicial, criminal and penal code; it regulates
everything from the ceremonies of religion to those of daily life; from the salvation
of the soul to the health of the body; from the rights of all to those of each
individual; from morality to crime; from punishment here to that in the life to come,
and our Prophet (S) has enjoined on us that every Muslim should possess a copy of
the Holy Quran and be his own priest. Therefore, Islam is not confined to the
spiritual tenets and doctrines and rituals and ceremonies. It is a complete code
regulating the whole Muslim society in every department of life, collectively and
individually." This was an Eid message delivered to the nation in 1945.

The dream of Iqbal is still awaiting to be fulfilled. "Those who are at the helm of
affairs (in Pakistan) are the ones who never participated in its journey." But Muslims
are always hopeful because they know that if they turn towards the Quran then
Allah promises that their condition will take a turn for the better. And Allah never
turns away from his promise.

Finally, let me finish with the words of Iqbal which he delivered in Allahabad during
1930 speech, in which he ends his speech saying, "Rise above sectional interests
and private ambitions… Pass from matter to spirit. Matter is diversity; spirit is light,
life and unity. One lesson I have learnt from the history of Muslims. At critical
moments in their history, it is Islam that has saved Muslims and not vice versa. If
today you focus your vision on Islam and seek inspiration from the ever-vitalizing
idea embodied in it, you will be only reassembling your scattered forces, regaining
your lost integrity, and thereby saving yourself from total destruction." May Allah
Almighty give us the strength and the courage to be worthy of these feelings
expressed by Allama Iqbal.
