State Police in Catskill investigating a double homicide

OnSunday,August11,2014,StatePoliceatCatskillrespondedtoareportofgunshotsbeingfired
at844PennsylvaniaAve.,Palenville,N.Y.RespondingpatrolsarrivedtodiscoverDanielBrennan,
age51ofSchenectady,N.Y.deceasedfrommultiplegunshotwoundsinthedrivewayofthe
residence.ItwassubsequentlydeterminedthatBrennanwastheboyfriendofPammiMroczek,age
49whopreviouslylivedattheresidencewithhernowestrangedhusband,RobertMroczek,age46.
TheStatePoliceSpecialOperationsResponseteamsubsequentlygainedentrytotheresidenceand
discoveredPammiMroczekdeceasedwithin,alsothevictimofgunshotwounds.
TheinvestigationrevealedthatRobertMroczek,aNewYorkStateParoleOfficer,hadencountered
thetwovictimsattheresidence,shotthembothandfled.Informationwasdisseminatedandasa
result,MroczekwasobservedbyStatePoliceoperatingoneofhisvehiclesonSt81intheTownof
Chenango,BroomeCounty.UponattemptingtostopMroczek,hefled.Avehiclepursuitinvolving
TheStatePoliceatKirkwoodandHomerwhichproceededintotheTownofCortlandville,Cortland
County.ThepursuitultimatelyendedwiththedeploymentofstopstickscausingMroczeksvehicle
totravelofftheeastshoulderoftheroadway.Mroczekwaspronounceddeceasedatthescenefrom
anapparentselfinflictedgunshotwoundtothehead.HisbodywastransportedtoLourdesHospital
foranautopsytobeconductedlatertoday.StatePoliceatCatskillwereassistedbytheGreene
CountySheriffsOffice,TheGreeneCountyDistrictAttorneysOfficeandTheNewYorkState
DepartmentofCorrectionsandCommunitySupervision.
