Any basic beat can be played with a lotof variations in your hihat, hihat foot, and ride cymbal while keeping thesnaredrum and bassdrum pattern thesame. Take for instance number 1.Nothing special about this one right? Now we are going to play variations inthe hihat pattern given in number 2uptill 12.One of my favorites to play is number 5.If you want to get an idea how this beatsounds, listen to the song "I wish" fromStevie Wonder. This beat sounds greatin soul music.Beats 11 and 12 are a special caseswhere a clave patterns is played. Clavesare often used in afro-cuban musicstyles.
