PSALM 51:1-11 (KJV)
1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according tothy lovingkindness: according unto themultitude of thy tender mercies blot out mytransgressions.2 Wash me throughly frommine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3For I acknowledge my transgressions: and mysin is ever before me.4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, anddone this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear whenthou judgest.5 Behold, I was shapen ininiquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inwardparts: and in the hidden part thou shalt makeme to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall bewhiter than snow.8 Make me to hear joy andgladness; that the bones which thou hast brokenmay rejoice.9 Hide thy face from my sins, andblot out all mine iniquities.10 Create in me aclean heart, O God; and renew a right spiritwithin me.11 Cast me not away from thypresence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

17 And the messenger answered and said, Israelis fled before the Philistines, and there hathbeen also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.18 Andit came to pass, when he made mention of theark of God, that he fell from off the seatbackward by the side of the gate, and his neckbrake, and he died: for he was an old man, andheavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.19 And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and whenshe heard the tidings that the ark of God wastaken, and that her father in law and herhusband were dead, she bowed herself andtravailed; for her pains came upon her. 20 Andabout the time of her death the women thatstood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thouhast born a son. But she answered not, neitherdid she regard it.21 And she named the childIchabod, saying, The glory is departed fromIsrael: because the ark of God was taken, andbecause of her father in law and her husband.22 And she said, The glory is departed fromIsrael: for the ark of God is taken.

He stoodup to read,17 and the scroll of the prophetIsaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scrolland found the place where it was written:18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,because he has anointed me to bring good newsto the poor. He has sent me to proclaim releaseto the captives and recovery of sight to theblind, to let the oppressed go free,19 toproclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
