Solons ask Comelec to submit a comprehensive election report

Lawmakers have filed a bill mandating the Commission on Election (Comelec) to


submit complete electoral data to the President of the Philippines and Congress after every
regular election.

'(()# said the Comelec should follow the law directing the agency to submit a
comprehensive report si* months or at most one year after the holding of a regular or
special election.
Rodrigue said the law mandates Comelec to submit to the President and the
Congress a comprehensive election report.
+%owever# the rule is not being followed by the C$,ELEC because the basic
electoral data contained in its reports after regular elections are not complete#- Rodrigue
said.
Rodrigue said the Comelec is also re.uired to provide copies of the report to all
public libraries.

the Comelec would be re.uired to submit a narrative assessment of the complete but
concise e*planation on the conte*t of the election conducted and the election calendar.
Rodrigue said the Comelec report should include the actual cost of the election and
the breakdown of e*penditures during the political e*ercise.
3he report shall include basic electoral data on voters to include the number of
registered voters per city and municipality and number of the 4oter5s Registration Records
(4RRs).
3he report shall also include number of precincts that functioned in the immediately
preceding elections by city and municipality6 number of precincts newly created for the
election under consideration by city and municipality6 and total number of precincts for
the election under review by city and municipality.
Likewise# the report shall include the number of ballots# election returns# ballot
bo*es and all other accountable forms actually used# spoiled and unused# among others.
