REMI estimates that an expansion of the
H-1B visa program would add more than
5,400 new high-skilled workers in the
state of Texas in 2014. This expansion
would result in more than 20,400 total
new jobs in 2014 and more than 36,400
new jobs by 2020.

In 2014, the expansion would add more
than $2 billion to Gross State Product
and increase personal income by $1.2
billion. By 2045, the expansion would
add $13 billion to Gross State Product
and increase personal income by more
than $11 billion.

The H-2B visa program allows employers

intermittent or peak load services.

The W-1 visa program is a new
nonimmigrant classification for
occupations that typically require less
than a bachelors degree. W-1 visas will
fill positions for which an employer is
unable to hire sufficient domestic
workers.
