Spanish Tapas Party Featuring Up-and-Coming NYC Chef, Mario Rodriguez-Salazar, Fatty Crab Restaurant: The night began at 7:30 pm with pitchers of pomegranate sangria (8 pitchers finished around 3 am) and beautifully plated Spanish tapas made with fresh produce from the farmer's market on 97th Street and the Whole Foods Market at Columbus Square, prepared by Chef Mario Rodriguez-Salazar, Fatty Crab Restaurant. The menu included a Tomato Tart with Goat Cheese and Olive Tapenade, Pan Con Tomate (Tomato Bread), Stuffed Piquillo Peppers, Tortilla Espanola (Spanish Omelets) with Romesco Sauce, and Pan Con Chocolate (Chocolate Bread).

Makes: 2 PitchersINGREDIENTS:2 bottles of red wine (any table wine works)3 oranges, halved, and sliced into ½ inch cubes3 red apples, cored, halved, and sliced into ½ inch cubes2 limes (or lemons), squeeze juice over the sliced apples2 cups red grapes, sliced in 1/21 pomegranate, washed, sliced, seeds separated, only use the juice and seeds (seerelated post about pomegranate fruit) a few shots of white rum1 cup simple syrup (equal amounts sugar in the raw and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)fresh basil leaves, chopped
