The American Physiological Society New Investigator Award

Richard Wainford is assistant professor in the department of


pharmacology and experimental therapeutics at Boston University
School of Medicine. His research has most recently been featured
in Hypertension, as well as the J ournal of Hypertension. Richard
Wainford also sits on several boards and is a committee chair
with the American Physiological Society Central Nervous System
Section Awards Committee.

The American Physiological Society (APS) is a member-driven
organization devoted to education and scientific research within
the physiological sciences. To support this mission, APS grants
awards to support research endeavors and upcoming scientists.
One such prize is the New Investigator Award, presented to an
excellent investigator in the beginning stages of his or her career
studying the central nervous system. The recipient is granted
$1000 and reimbursement for the registration fee for the
Experimental Biology Meeting. The winner of this award must not
be above the rank of assistant professor, or a comparable
position in a research track, and must also have displayed a
commitment to contributions to research and education
advancement in the field.
