PROJECT OVERVIEW
Good Work is a project that’s been initiated by MetaGood(www.metagood.org) – a social innovation catalyst founded by alumni fromIIT / IIM / Columbia University.Good Work will provide career counseling services to students & alumni of leading colleges who are looking to find work that makes a difference. GoodWork will have a counseling helpdesk with offline / online presence which willconnect these seekers to appropriate organizations within the non-profit,development or for-profit social impact space based on their interest andavailability of vacancies. This will be a non-profit venture which will be funded for the 1
st
year. Fromthe 2
nd
year onwards, the project will be expected to become self sustainingthrough fees that it generates from its clients & / or revenue it gets fromorganization in which it places people.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT
Two reasons.

Firstly, there are many large challenges facing our world: climatechange, poverty, over-population, disease, terrorism etc and we needall the help we can get. We need talented people to stop doing trivialwork that doesn’t really make a difference (selling expensive fragrancefor example) and start contributing to the solution of these problemsthrough their creativity, innovation and perseverance.

Secondly, a lot of people are looking for more meaningful work. Theyfeel frustrated and disenchanted with their existing jobs and view themas a necessary evil: getting the money in. This takes a toll on theiremotional and physical health. They could really use help in findingwork that they can relate to and find meaning in. The Good Work helpdesk connects such people to work that matters andthus adds value both to society and to individuals.
