THE CHALLENGE
The proven key to success in reducing endemic malaria is widespread populaton coverage with more than one eectve
malaria control interventon. Employing this strategy in the Katakwi District of Uganda--one of the most burdened regions
of East Africa--we are seeking to halt transmission, save lives, reduce the economic burden of malaria, and leverage the
work for contnued advocacy for increased malaria control across all of Uganda.

We intend to bring immediate and eectve relief to families in the hardest-hit
regions of Katakwi. By preventng malaria transmission with proven methods,
we will save and empower lives.
$40 will protect a family of six from malaria
for an entre year, helping us to:
Prevent 20+ malaria bouts per year per family
Increase family food security as farming families are freed from sickness
Enable children to atend school regularly throughout the year
Strengthen local health systems

Malaria is not just Ugandas greatest health problem; it is Ugandas greatest human and economic development problem.
With the worlds highest malaria burden, Uganda experiences 70-100,000 malaria deaths every year. 1 in 7 Ugandans will
die before the age of 5the majority from malaria. Many Ugandans experience 6-10 episodes of malaria every year.
