Dr. Edward Tobinick has practiced medicine for more than 30 years. He has concentrated his research for the past 15 years on mechanisms of neurological dysfunction that are mediated by neuroinflammation. In addition founding the Institute of Neurological Recovery, Dr. Edward Tobinick is a supporter of the Venice Family Clinic. He is a member its
Silver Circle philanthrophic group and a recipient of its Rossman/Davidson Clinical Teaching/Service Award. Established in 1970 by Dr. Phillip Rossman and Dr. Mayer B. Davidson, the Venice Family Clinic provides primary healthcare services to disadvantaged families and individuals. The clinic places specific emphasis on meeting the needs of women, children, patients with chronic diseases, and the homeless. Since its founding, it has expanded to include ten clinic locations in Santa Monica, Inglewood, Mar Vista, Culver City, and Venice, all in Los Angeles County. These locations serve more than 24,000 patients, many of whom have low incomes and no health insurance. Each year, the clinic receives more than 106,000 medical visits involving specialty care, primary care, dental, mental health, and health education services. Over 2,000 volunteers, including over 500 volunteer physicians, give their time to the clinic. The Venice Family Clinic is also the recipient of support
from hospitals such as the UCLA Medical Center and Saint John’s Health
Center, receiving millions of dollars in free medication, and services such as radiology and emergency services. In addition, the clinic partners with departments at various institutions, including UCLA and USC, to host training programs. These comprise medical residency programs and
