Review the Prototypical Academic Library’s Social Media Training Plan “Introduction” section.Read the articles concerning Social Media in the reference section and watch the YouTube video provided. Keep notes and ask questions during the course and present the questions in your blog,which will also be used to keep track of your progress.
Social Media:
Social Mediais term to describe the differentWeb 2.0media applications used for social interaction. These applications are generally free to the public and can be used to exchangeinformation one-to-one or one-to-many. One of the key concepts of social media is to stimulatedialogue and provide real-time information. Every minute the Web is populated with contentusing the many social media tools available. Information has become a staple of our society andthose with computer access have the ability to post information as content creators. As librarians,it is essential to understand the basics of the more popular applications and to use them in thelibrary; retrieving and disseminating information in a timely, efficient and organized manner.
