Mr. Saroj Kumar Poddar, 62 years, a gold medalist in B. Com (Hons) from CalcuttaUniversity, is the Chairman of the Company. Mr. Poddar is also chairman of Poddar HeritageEnterprises.  The Zuari-Chambal-Paradeep (Z-C-P) Combine is a part of the K K Birla Group having aturnover of over Rs.50 billion. Three and a half decades back, late Dr. K.K. Birla promotedZuari Industries Limited (ZIL) and entered the Indian Corporate scene by investment infertilizer plant in Zuarinagar, Goa. Subsequently, ZIL promoted Chambal Fertilizers andChemicals Limited (Chambal). Chambal commenced the commercial production of Urea atGadepan I in Rajasthan in January, 1994 and at Gadepan II in October, 1999. In the year2002, Government of India divested 74% of its stake in Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL)in favour of Zuari Maroc Phosphates Ltd. (ZMPL). ZMPL is a 50:50 Joint Venture of ZuariIndustries Limited and Maroc Phosphore S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of fertilizer major,OCP of Morocco.Over the years, the aforesaid three Companies have established a formidable presence inthe fertilizer sector and today, Z-C-P Combine is one of the larges fertilizer conglomerate inIndia.
Apart from fertilizers, Z-C-P, also has a significant presence in various sectors – Agri-inputs,Shipping, Textiles, Financial Services, Information Technology, Food Processing, Agri-biotechnology, Furniture, Engineering Services, Oil Terminal and it now plans to enter thePower Sector.Z-C-P has grown from a single Urea Unit to a complete range of fertilizers and diversifiedbusinesses with plants located in the states of Goa, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana,Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited was setup in 1967 to produce 220,000 tonnes of Ammonia &340,000 tonnes of Urea in technical & financial collaboration between the House of Birla &US steel corporation. The product range was then expanded to include other compoundnitrogenous & phosphatic fertilisers as well. Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited was later renamedZuari Industries Limited.Zuari’ fertiliser plant at Goa has completed 36 years of operations. Over the years, it hasmaintained high standards for productivity, safety & environmental protection and has wonawards for the same. It is spread over 550 hectares & comprises a single stream ammoniaplant with an installed capacity of 660 mt per day, a Urea plant of 1140 mt per day and twocomplex (NPK) plants of 1100 mt per day which manufactures various grades of Phosphatic
fertilizers. There are also off site facilities for the generation of steam and captive power. Ithas become the nation’ first zero effluent fertiliser plant.

 The ammonia plant is based upon the ‘ICI Steam Reforming Process’, using naphtha as feedstock. The single stream Urea Plant incorporates the well known Mitsui Toatsu ‘total recycleprocess’ developed by the Mitsui Toatsu Corporation, Japan, while the complex fertilizerplants (NPK Plants - A & B), are based on the slurry granulation process and incorporate thelatest pipe reactor technology. The plant has maintained an exemplary track record of highcapacity utilization, operational efficiency and energy conservation and has won topperformance awards from the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) as well as the NationalProductivity Council.
Zuari’s ‘Jai Kisaan’ range of fertilizers are marketed in the five states of Maharashtra,Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa and Tamil Nadu through a network of 2500 authoriseddealers. Eleven regional offices at strategic locations viz. Pune, Kolhapur and Aurangabad inMaharashtra, Bangalore, Hubli and Bellary in Karnataka; Hyderabad Vijayawada & Kurnool inAndhra Pradesh, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and Zuarinagar in Goa control and monitormarketing activities. The marketing network is manned by trained agricultural graduateswho provide service support to the dealers and farmers. The ‘Jai Kisaan’ product range includes popular brands like ‘Jai Kisaan’ urea, ‘Sampurna’(19:19:19), ‘Samarth’ (10:26:26), ‘Sampatti’ (20:20:0) and ‘Samrat’ (18:46:0).
