February 4,2008 Mary Tillman,Stan Goff mentioned that you and Narda Zacchino are workingtogether on a memoir about your son Pat Tillman. I believe the Tillmanfamily would benefit from speaking with Iddo Netanyahu, by learningmore about the life and death of his brother Yoni (Jonathan)Netanyahu, and by asking Senator James Webb to review your book.Iddo Netanyahu is the youngest of three brothers. All three brothersfought together in the same elite Israeli army unit (Sayeret Matkal)during the 1970’s. Iddo is now a radiologist. His other brother,Benjamin Netanyahu, was Israel’s Prime Minister from 1996 to 1999and is the leader of Israel’s Likud party. Iddo’s oldest brother, Jonathan (Yoni) Netanyahu, has largely been forgotten in the US afterhis death 30 years ago leading the Rescue at Entebbe.Like Kevin Tillman, Iddo’s oldest brother died in battle, became anational icon, and had the truth covered up by his government. Forthe past 30 years, Iddo has been engaged in a battle for the truthabout his brother’s death. And, like Pat Tillman, Yoni Netanyahu was also a remarkable man. Thereality of both Pat and Yoni was much deeper than their iconic images. Both possessed a core of honesty and integrity, led by personalexample, and lived their lives intensely. Neither cared much aboutmoney or personal comfort. Both were mavericks, intellectuals andavid readers [see Appendix “A” & “B”]For example, from the foreword to “The Letters of JonathanNetanyahu”: “Of all the aspects of his character one predominates – integrity. Bythis we do not mean only honesty toward one’s fellow man, but, aboveall, honesty toward oneself. An inner wholeness marked Yoni’s entirebehavior, inspired his way of life and determined his objectives. Thatwholeness resulted from a great need for absolute harmony betweenhis thoughts and deeds.”“For Yoni, unlike many of us, could not hold beliefs without living themto the full. Once convinced of the rightness of an idea, whether in thepersonal or national sphere, he had to do what he could to actualize it,regardless of the hardships or risks involved. Again and again heasked himself whether he was working toward the realization of hislife’s aims.”
