(1)INTRODUCTION
 Nairobi is thecapitaland largest city of Kenya. It is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun." Founded in1899, the city was handed capital status fromMombasain1905. The city lies in the south of Kenya, and has an elevation of 1661 m (5450 ft) abovesea-level.

 Nairobi is the most populous city in East Africa,with an estimated urban population of  about 3.5 million. According to the 1999 Census, 2,143,254 inhabitants lived within 684km². Nairobi is reputed to be the fastest growing city in the World after Guadaloupe,Mexico City (Mexico) and Maputo (Mozambique).In 1973, Nairobi Metropolitan Growth Strategy was formulated and gave thedevelopment directions of land use and transport system for Nairobi City (NCC). Nodetailed plan and revision has been performed since then.3
