Composite Technology Completes First Commercial Installation
Of Its New ACCC Power Cable

IRVINE, CA, August 30, 2004 - Composite Technology Corporation (CTC) (OTC Bulletin Board:
CPTC), a leading developer of high-performance composite core cables for electric transmission and
distribution lines, today announced that it has completed the first commercial overhead installation of
its proprietary Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) high-performance electrical power
cable, which can economically double the electrical transmission capacity of conventional power
conductors of the same size and weight, while dramatically increasing system reliability by virtually
eliminating problematic high- temperature cable sag.

This initial installation in the city of Holland, Michigan utilized over three thousand feet of ACCC
conductor. The higher performance ACCC conductor replaced existing conventional utility power
cable in the municipalitys power distribution system. The installation utilized CTCs ACCC Hawk
size utility power cable and spanned several support structures while utilizing compression dead ends
and splices jointly developed by CTC and FCI/Burndy for installing the cable. The city of Holland is
planning on upgrading its distribution system during the next few years to meet the growing energy
demands of its customers.

Completion of this commercial installation represents a major milestone for CTC. Customers choose
our cable because it represents the most cost effective solution available that delivers significantly
better performance. The technological and project performance advantages versus traditional solutions
are what sells our cable and we are pleased that the market is choosing ACCC, said Benton Wilcoxon,
CTC Chairman and CEO. Each project underlines the ease of installation of our new cable, as this
and our recent installation experience at the EPRI facilities in Texas clearly show. There are several
other projects slated for completion prior to years end, but we believe that every cost conscious
transmission manager whose grid system is threatened by blackout or inefficiencies should be looking
at the ACCC as a cost effective solution. After all, its about using the advantages of new technology
to deliver better service to the customer, both for us and for them

The city of Holland has an ongoing need to meet increasing power demand while maintaining system
reliability and minimizing costs, said Dave Durham, Superintendent of Electric Transmission and
Distribution for the Holland Board of Public Works. After a comprehensive review of available
technology, we found that CTCs ACCC cable is the most cost-effective solution to our power
distribution problems. We can significantly increase system capacity while the cables unique high-
temperature performance characteristics will improve reliability. Since we can install the cable on
existing structures, we avoid significant costs that would be required by alternative solutions.

CTCs recent installation at the Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI) facilities in Haslet, Texas
utilized approximately two miles of ACCC conductor. The installation used CTCs ACCC Drake
size utility power cable and spanned over five utility support structures. A line crew from Great
Southwestern Construction, a member of the MYR Group and a leading supplier of a full range of
services within the electrical construction industry, completed the installation with assistance from

CTCs technical support personnel. Installation hardware, tools and dies used are conventional
industry standard products, with the exception of the compression dead end and splice assemblies that
have been specifically designed for use with CTCs ACCC cable. The ability to use conventional
equipment and installation methods means customers can now expect to install ACCC cable in similar
time periods, and at similar costs, as existing cable with minimal training for their construction
personnel.

About CTC
CTC is an Irvine, CA-based company providing high performance advanced composite core conductor
cables for electric transmission and distribution lines. The proprietary new ACCC cable transmits two
times more power than comparably sized conventional cables in use today. ACCC can solve line sag
problems, create energy savings through less line losses, has significantly lower electromagnetic fields,
and can easily be retrofitted on existing towers to upgrade energy throughput. ACCC cables allow
transmission owners, utility companies, and power producers to easily replace transmission lines
without modification to the towers using standard installation techniques and equipment, thereby
avoiding the deployment of new towers and establishment of new rights-of-way that are costly, time
consuming, controversial and may impact the environment. CTC has established strategic relationships
with existing cable manufacturers to rapidly expand production and facilitate deployment to end users
worldwide. See: www.compositetechcorp.com.
