Today is the 61st Anniversary of International Human Rights Day on which Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted which grantee the rights of all the human beings in the world.
Indeed Burma is bound to respect UDHR in which Burma is the signatory. Sadly, even after adopting the UDHR for 61 years, Burmese people are still suffering very utterly under brutal military regime which outlawed human rights in Burma.
“Most of the Burmese people, human rights or UDHR is something alien for them until now. Our human rights are robbed by military regime for nearly half the century”, said Myo Thein, the Director at the Burma democratic Concern (BDC).
According to the UDHR, we should have the opportunity to enjoy the true meaning of life free from persecution for practicing UDHR or enjoying human rights.
“The world leaders should support us in action rather than words. In Burma, UDHR is something at the library or something just written on the paper or something you cannot say in the public,” said Daw Khin Aye Aye Mar, the patron at the Burma Democratic Concern (BDC).
Junta is not only failing to abide by UDHR accordingly, but also there are reports that they are committing war crimes or/and crime against humanity in Burma.
“International community should be aware of that we cannot not only ignore the injustices going on in Burma but also they have the responsibly to protect the oppressed people from oppressors,” added U Tint Shwe Thiha, the Patron at the Burma Democratic Concern (BDC).
We know that UDHR is there which grantees the rights of all the human beings. We know that UN is there standing for facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and the achieving of world peace.
“The question is how we shall protect innocent people from perpetrators. It is the duty of all the mankind to realize UDHR accordingly in order to build the peaceful world. I hope that UN won’t overlook the urgency of Burma crisis,” added Kin Maung Win, the Director at the Burma Democratic Concern (BDC).
