For those not familiar with Gladstone (Qld) and the most sought after fish 'n' chip

shop in town....let me tell you, it's the type of shop that will close for extended
periods. The owners will put up a sign saying when they'll open again. It's as if the
whole town waits.....well no they do wait and with no serious complaint!

"n this occasion, they had #een closed for a#out se$en wee%s. &fter wor%, I got in
early to place my order and went #ac% to my shop for a#out thirty or forty minutes
(The usual waiting time on a #usy night.) 'hen I returned to collect my meal, the
outside lights were off, except for the neon (closed) sign o$er the doorway. They
may ha$e run out of fish.
In the semidar%ness, spread a#out the footpath, people were facing the entrance
waiting for their num#ers to #e called. The scene immediately struc% me as a%in to a
gathering, waiting for a church ser$ice to commence.
Those (in the %now), will recognise the clue to the name of the #usiness in the last
two lines. There's not too much to it, #ut I was compelled to write it!
