IOM Welcomes Bangsamoro Basic Law Transmission to President

Philippines - IOM today welcomed the handover of the draft Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) to President
Aquino at the Malacaang by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission.
This is excellent news for Mindanao and the Philippines. The deliberations that went into this draft law
reflect the strong commitment and hard work that all parties have been putting into making peace prevail
and building a better future for the people of Mindanao, said IOM Philippines Chief of Mission Marco
Boasso.
IOM congratulates the Bangsamoro Transition Commission for a job well done and achieving this major
milestone in the peace process. We will continue to offer our unconditional support to the process and all
the institutions involved, working with our local and international partners, he added.
IOM, in cooperation with the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) regional government and
the Bangsamoro Development Agency, will convene a Ways Forward forum for international agencies
and donors on the draft law in Manila next week.
