 Joining The Army: A Look At TheOath Of Enlistment
There are some oaths thatpeople do not take seriously;they are merely repeatedwithout much meaning. Whenit comes to the ultimate servicefor one’s country and fellowcountrymen, the Oath of Enlistment is not just lipservice.Army enlistment andfederal law requires thespeaking of this Oath; it is asacred institution that everymember of the armed servicesshould be proud to recite andhonor through everyactionthey take.
THE FIRST OATH
The Oath was introducedby the first patriots this countryever saw, those brave soulswho fought for our independence starting in1775.The Continental Congress established the firstOath that fateful summer when our democracy wasdeclared.The enlisted men of the firstContinental Army pledgedtheir service to the firstAmerican army and armedservice ever created.Courtesy of www.army.net
