A ROSE FOR EMILY

Emily Grierson lived alone in a big house where her father Colonel Satoris left her
forever. The death of her father set her back some taxes to be paid; she did not have to pay when
her father was alive. Not only the taxes she denied, the fact of Colonel Satoriss death also. She
was absolutely lonely, lived only with her Negro childhood servant. But, a few years after the
Satoriss death, Emily met a guy whose name was Homer Barron. Everyone thought that they
would be married because Emily looked happy with him; she was also seen bought some
furnishings. But, terrible news made the neighbors felt sad and pity for Emily, more and more.
The man, Homer Barron showed himself as a man who attracted to another man. Emily who had
no hope came to a pharmacy and asked for poison. She did not tell what would she do with the
thing. And after that, Homer was not seen anymore since the last time everyone saw him entered
Emilys house.
With the house covered by dusts and a Negro who was rarely seen, she hid herself on the
house. Hear appearance became worse than before, with a grey hair, obesity body, and stink
odor. The neighborhood felt pity for her. She was sick, they thought. Especially when they
complained about how stink her house was. And as the time passed, Emily had to follow her
father; no one knew why she died, neither her two cousins. Everyone came to Emilys funeral
and brought a ton of flowers. They all felt sad and talked everything about her. After the funeral,
the cousins tried to clean up the house. The Negro servant was there once, and then disappeared
quietly. The cousins found a closed40years olddoor in the upstairs. Some people helped
these women to force to open the door and they saw something unbelievable. The man, Homer
Barron was laying there, peacefully, in a room full of dusts and bridal-style furnished. The
women walked closely to the corpse and saw something that they might have known. A pillow
beside the corpses pillow which has an indentation on it; and a long strand of iron- gray hair.
