INTRODUCTION

RaichurThermal Power Station (RTPS) is a project
sponsored by the Karnataka Power Corporation
Limited . KPCL is a fully owned by the Government
of Karnataka.


Karnataka Power Corporation LTD exclusively for

power generation through hydel & thermal .
RaichurThermal Power Station is first of its kind in
Karnataka State.

OBJECTIVES



 



To generate the electricity & supply to the people
in the Karnataka State.

ESTABLISHMENT


 


 Raichur Thermal Power Plant is situated at

Shaktinagar near Deosugur village of Raichur District
(on Raichur Hyderbad Highway).


The Project to construct the Thermal Power Station was

finalized in 1978 after an MOU was signed between
Karnataka Power Corpration Limited & the Karnataka
State Electricity Board. Tata Group Company was
appointed as the consultants for the project.

Aquired area of RTPS, is 536 acres for colony.1600 acres
for power station. 1000 acres for ash handling . 128
acres for Rehabilitation centre.
The Power station at present consists of seven
units each of 210 MW generation
capacities.Each unit generating 5 million units
per day .

Imported Coal from Indonesia, Thailand & China.

Coal Management System At
RTPS / Computerized Unit Control
System:

The coal supplied is sampled using a

computerized system and sent to the laboratory
for testing. This ensures that a properly graded
coal is being used.
RAW MATERIALS

RTPS uses coal for generation of electricity.




Actions initiated by KPCL:

To bring down the transit losss a liaison agent was

appointed.

KPCL entered into Fuel Supply agreement (FSA) with coal

companies during the year 2000.
