E. Ahamed meets Home Minister
Seeks Protection to and proper representation for Muslim Minority
Shri. E. Ahamed,
National President,
Indian Union Muslim
League and Member of
Parliament called on Shri.
Rajnath Singh, Honble
Home Minister to discuss
various issues concerning
the minorities. During
the 15 Minutes long
discussion Mr. Ahamed
brought to the notice of
Honble Home Minister,
Communal Violence that
took place int he country after
the NDA Government assumed
the ofce. About 600 communal
violence cases were reported
during the last three months.
Another important issue Mr.
Ahamed raised with the Home
Minister is exclusion of Arabic and
other foreign languages form the
list of Optional for Civil Services
Mains Examinations which has
adversely affected the candidates
with Madrassa background of
education. During the discussion
Mr. Ahamed also pointed out an
undisputed fact that percentage
of Muslims out of candidates
selected in UPSC Civil Services
Examinations is abysmally poor
and is always around 2% only.
Adequate steps may be taken to
augment this poor representation.
Home Minister has assured Mr.
Ahamed that the government will
take all necessary steps in this
issue.
Copy of the representation given
to the Honble Home Minister is as
follows :
I would like that the Honble
Home Minister may please look
into some of the details I have
given herein below.
1. It is a serious question of
pondering why the incidents of
communal violence has shot up
after 16th May, 2014. The whole
purpose seems to be to further
polarise Indian polity and pitch
communities against each other.
More than 600 serious incidents of
communal disturbances occurred
and even criminal acts have been
given communal colour to use it as
an instrument to create disunity in
the society.
2. No sensible person can justify
the violence or sexual harassment
against women. It is unfortunate
that when violence and criminal
acts against fair gender
has been on rise and
even unfortunate
criminal incidents here
and there, in which
criminals from muslim
community have been
found or alleged to
have involved, is
being unnecessarily
given the communal
colour, and it should
stop. Attempts have
also been made to pitch minority
community groups against each
other.
3. According to my information,
Hyderabad and Saharanpur are
the worst examples of these dirty
games. The whole exercise to
incite people against each other
seems to have denite genesis in
the wishful thinking of garnering
votes not only in ensuing Assembly
elections in different States, but
also in the by-elections in U.P.,
Bihar and other parts of the
country.
4. Every single citizens of this
country has the right to follow and
perform religion and rituals, but
how much it is advisable to use
religious aspirations for political
purposes and unnecessarily
creating difculties for peace and
tranquillity.
5. It may be mentioned that
the Communal Violence Bill, an
initiative of the previous UPA
regime, seems to have been put
on the back burner by the NDA
government with the home ministry
unlikely to push the controversial
legislation. Honble Prime Minister
Narendra Modi J i had dubbed the
bill as a recipe for disaster when
he was chief minister of Gujarat.
6. Another important aspect
that I would like to point out here
is the fake encounter case that has
raked the nation - Ishrat J ahan
Case - needless to mention details.
However, It may be mentioned
that In a surprise move, Gujarat
government reinstated suspended
IPS ofcer GL Singhal, an accused
in Ishrat J ahan fake encounter
case whose recording of phone
conversations had brought to light
the snooping scandal also. It is
requested that such things are to
be curbed and controlled.
7. The CBI has sought sanction
from the home ministry to
prosecute former IB special
director Rajinder Kumar and three
other ofcers in the Ishrat J ahan
encounter case and handed over
all the relevant documents, to
concerned authorities.
I hope and request that these
matters would receive kind
consideration and necessary action
of the Government.

THE TIMES OF LEAGUE
The recent decision by UPSE
to exclude Arabic alongwith other
foreign languages from the list
of optional for Civil Services Main
Examination has adversely affected
the candidates with Madrassa
background for education.
Arabic language has to be treated
at par with other India languages,
which being formally taught in
many of the Universities in India at
Pre-degree, Undergraduate and PG
Level.
It is pertinent to mention
here that Central Government
(DoP&T) has issued a notication
on 23.2.201 at The certicate
issued by Madrassa Boards which
have been granted equivalence
by the State Education Boards to
that of their Secondary and Senior
Secondary qualications, have also
been equated with corresponding
certicates of the Central Board
of Secondary Education (CBSE),
Poor representation of Muslim Community
in the UPSC Civil Services Examinations
Council of Board of School
Education in India (COBSE) and
other School Examination Boards,
for the purpose of employment
and entry to higher level
education.
When the UPA Government
has given a special thrust on
Madrassa education to bring at
par with CBSE, and other State
Education Boards for the purpose
of employment and entry to
higher level education, exclusion
of Arabic language from the list
of optional for Civil Services Main
Examination, would adversely
affect the candidates with
Madrassa education background.
Therefore, I strongly recommend
that the decision to exclude Arabic
from the list may be reconsidered
sympathetically.
Category-wise interview
Another important issue is
the category-wise interview for
Civil Services Examinations. For
candidates belonging to OBC,
SC/ST, it always caused denial of
justice an fair play. Any analysis
of the category-wise interview
for Civil Service Examination,
it is given to understand that
candidates from OBC, SC/ST are
always given less marks, even if
they performed at par in quality
and talents with other candidates.
Representation of Muslims
It is an undisputed fact that
percentage of Muslims out of
candidates selected in UPSC
Civil Services Examinations is
abysmally poor and it is always
around 2% only. Adequate steps
need to be taken to augment this
poor representation.
I would request you to kindly
consider the above issues
sympathetically and issue
necessary instructions to the
concerned, in larger interest of
the minority community, especially
Muslims.
Following the general elections held in India last
May, Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya J anata Party (BJ P)
was elected Prime Minister. However, recent reports in
the international media have expressed great concern
over Modis past record and nationalist agenda. Modi, a
member of a Hindu nationalist party, has been criticised
for his role in the deadly Gujarat Hindu-Muslim riots of
2002 in which more than 1 000 members of the Muslim
community lost their lives. Modi was Chief Minister of
the state at the time.
Indias 1.3 billion population comprises a large number
of minority groups, including Christians, Muslims and
others.
Is the EU monitoring the situation in India regarding
Modis Minority Rights questioned in the European Parliament
minority rights and the policy that the new Indian
leadership intends to pursue on this matter?
Are the issue of the large proportion of Indias
population living in conditions of extreme poverty
and the initiatives that will provide greater access to
education and food safety part of the ongoing EU-India
FTA negotiations?
Given that national policies regarding minorities
could potentially threaten peace and security in South
Asia, including in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh
and India, is the EU pursuing a collective agreement
between these countries with a view to addressing such
concerns?

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
(I.S.I.S) a new nation was born on
J une 29, 2014 on the rst day of
Ramalan.
This new State has been
proclamied in the land stretching
from Aleppo City in the North Syria
and extending to Diayala City in
the East Iraq.
It has been declared that small
cities like Rakha, Dehur Sesor and
Mohsur, Anbar, Nineveh, Saladin,
Dyala have been integrated into
the New Islamic State.
It has been proclaimed that
Abubackar Al Baghadadi was the
leader of the New State.
News oozing out from the place
reveal that the real name of the
leader his Ibrahim Aval Al Bathri
and he became the commonder
of the rebels after uniting all the
rebels ghting against the Syrian
President Basar Al Asads and the
rebels ghting against the Irqa
Prime Minister Noori Al Malik. A
attained many success and he
proclaimed himself as Ameerul
Momineen - the Leader of the
faithfull and declared himself as
Is Khilafath Rule possible in the present world?
the Kalifa from the rst day of
Ramalan.
Under the new circumstances of
the Birth of New State, Iraq has
split into three parts. The Northen
Part has become Kurdisthan, and
in the South Eastern Provinces of
Najab & karbala come under the
inuence of Shias.
The Islamic State of ISIS has
been declared as dilafath, which
has promptly been rejected by the
Kurds and Shios.
The self styled Khalifa Al -
Baghdathi has proclamied that
Arab world should accept his
Leadership. He also pronounced
that the world Muslim Countries
should recognize his Khilafath and
follow his dictates.
Al Baghdadi also declare that
China, India, European Countries
and all the Countries in the East
and West would feel the impact of
Khilafath and La Baghadadi also
has rang the warning bell that the
Muslim in these countries would
start J ihad the moment their rights
are abrogated.
The World Countries observing
such current of thoughts, certainly
have been shell shocked. Due to
the shop political comments come
up stating that Al Baghdadis
dream would be blunted in the
begining itself.
The whole of Iraq does not
support the Khilafath Rule nor
the entire Syria. Opinions point
out that it is an act of madness to
unit the western countries to act
unitedly against the mulsims in the
Arab world.
It is crystal clear that no
muslim country welcome the new
Khilafath. It is a solid truth that
no other country in the world ever
accept the Khilafath rule or agree
the comming together of the
Muslim Countries under his rule.
What is the reason for the
rejection of Khilafath rule by the
Arab Countries, Muslim Countries
and other Countries in the world.
Who is Khalifa? What is meant
by Khilafath? When did Khilafath
begin in the Islamic history? Is
Khilafath rule possible in the
present world political system.
What is the reason for the present
world to oppose the integration
of Muslim world under one single
rule.
Then how is it possible for
the world muslims to establish
an islamic rule if Kalifa is not
accepted and Khilafath is denied?
Is there any possibility in the
western democratic system for
Islamic method of rule? Is there
recognition for the Islamic politica
Philosophy in the Republican
system of governance?
What is the way to repeat
the history of benovalent rule
established previously based
on the teachings of Quran and
Prophet Muhammed (Sal). How
to put into practice such rule? So
many questions have been raised
since. No doubt our knowledge
will widen when we try to ne
answers to such rare questions.
Let us utilize the moment to learn
the Islamic Political Philosophy.

There are still ample indications
that even after exit of Narendra Modi
from Gujarat, Muslims in the state still
live under fear and they are under
constant attack from people owing
allegiance to Sangh Parivar. Recently,
a Muslim family was attacked by a
Hindu mob on a petty issue of seat
sharing in train in south Gujarat
near Bilimora railway station. A male
member of the family was also hit by a
rod and he was seriously injured. The
mob also raised slogans threatening
Muslims like This is Modis Gujarat.
Another example of Muslims getting
constantly fearful is that recently there
was heavy rain in Ahmedabad and
most of the areas were submerged
in the water. The condition of Muslim
ghettos were even worse as they
turned into river. The PUCL tried very
hard to nd some Muslims to le
petition against Municipal Corporation,
but not a single Muslim or Muslim
NGO was ready for this. Lastly, the
PUCL itself took the lead role and led
a petition on behalf of Muslims living
in the area.
The activists of right-wing Muslim
baiters VHP and Bajrang Dal in Gujarat
are now feeling quite emboldened
and independent in their actions of
terrorizing Muslims in the state after
Mods elevation as Prime Minister of
India. The new Chief Minister Ms.
Anandiben Patel, who donned the
Despite Modis exit from Gujarat Muslims still live under fear under new Chief Minister Ms. Anandiben Patel
mantle, seems to be quite soft in
dealing with RSS sister organisations.
The Vadodara Police however
acted and recently booked members
of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad for
brandishing swords and daggers at
a rally to mark the 50 years of the
saffron organization in the city.
The VHP members who actively
took part in the rally passed through
communally sensitive areas in at
least two points in the city, wielding
swords and holding banners with the
message: Yachna Nahi Rann hoga,
Yudhh Mahabheeshan Hoga, and
chanted J ai Shri Ram. (No pleading,
but war. The war will be quite bitter
and intense). The policemen deployed
to monitor the rally stood mute
spectators as the group aunted their
weapons and broke into tandav jigs
on the road.
The rally began at the VHPs
Vadodara base in Salatwada area
and proceeded to Kothi, Raopura,
Amdavadi Pol, Navabazar, Bajwada,
Champaner Darwaza, Mandvi, Nyay
Mandir and Khanderao Market before
concluding at its point of origin, thus
covering a four kilometer stretch,
including communally sensitive
pockets.
With the dates for the bypolls of the
Vadodara parliamentary constituency
already declared and the Model Code
of Conduct in place, the VHP members
allegedly violated the rules by carrying
weapons.
Although the organization had
acquired permission from the police
to hold its rally, coinciding with the
festival of Krishna J anmashtmi, cops
say no religious or political outt can
be allowed to aunt weapons during
the MCC being in force.
Despite his public image, Narendra
Modi was careful to keep the fringe
elements of the Sangh parivar at a
distance when he was chief minister of
Gujarat. He succeeded in weakening
elements such as the Vishwa Hindu
Parishad to the extent that hundreds
of temples could be demolished as
illegal structures in Gandhinagar just
ahead of the 2009 elections with
hardly a whimper of protest.
But things are now changing under
his successor Ms. Anandiben Patel.
A communal skirmish took place in
Bhuj ahead of Eid, while a temple was
allegedly desecrated in Idar in north
Gujarat during Shravan leading to a
tense situation.
Apart from this, on Eid day, the
chief minister performed an aarti that
was organized by the Ahmedabad
Municipal Corporation on the banks
of the Sabarmati river. Religion
seems to be gaining a bigger space
in the public discourse in Gujarat after
Modis departure for Delhi, according
to some observers.
A source in the BJ P said that while
its too early to determine a wider
trend, the efforts of the Sangh parivar
to re-establish its grip over Gujarat is
more than a possibility.
Modi dealt with the VHP with an iron
hand in the last few years, rendering
the international secretary of the outt
Pravin Togadia a political pariah. As a
matter of fact, Modi ensured a split
in VHP with the anti-Togadia faction
supporting the chief minister. This cut
the outt to size in a state where it
used to have immense political clout.
In 2009, when the temples were
demolished, the state police even
arrested a VHP leader from north
Gujarat just ahead of Diwali and kept
him behind bars for a long time. It will
be recalled that a controversy broke
out in April after Togadia exhorted
an audience in Bhavnagar to harass
the Muslim buyer of a building in a
Hindu area to force him to abandon
the purchase.
But the VHP, uncharacteristically,
doesnt seem to be keen on making
any public statements that could be
seen as exploiting events to iname
opinion right now. Still, VHP state
president Trivedi said, Things are as
it is getting bad. He also raised the
issue of cow slaughter.
There are regular reports of
seizure of beef and cow slaughter too
has not stopped, he said, adding that
VHP will decide on its course of action
after its leaders meet.

On the eve of the departure of
the rst batch of Hajj pilgrims from
Guwahati, prayer for peace, har-
mony and brotherhood was on the
lips on Tuesday. Starting from As-
sam chief minister to the pilgrims,
everybody seek blessing from
the Almighty for a peaceful state
which has so far witnessed plenty
of blood sheds. The rst ight for
the Hajj pilgrims is today.
On a graceful evening Assam CM
Tarun Gogoi said that he wished
the Hajj pilgrims to be seeking
blessing for a peaceful state. On
Tuesday evening Tarun Gogoi for-
mally saw off the Hajj pilgrims of
the northeastern states.
Its a very sacred moment and
I wish all the pilgrims so that their
wishes are fullled at Mecca. I
hope everybody will pray for the
peace and harmony of the state in
Mecca, said Gogoi addressing the
gathering of Hajj pilgrims and their
Under the revised agreement
between Hajj Committee of India
and Saudi Arabian Airlines Indian
Hajis will be provided with 5 litre
cans of Zamzam water on their
return to India. Previous year Hajis
could bring 10-litre of Zamam
along with their belongings while
returning from Saudi Arabia.
As per the understanding with
Hajj Committee of India, Saudi
Arabian Airlines will carry these
cans on their return ights after
disembarking Hajis at J eddah
airports Hajj Terminal, Arab News
reported couple of days before.
Arab News also reports that the
specially packaged Zamzam water
cans, provided by the government-
run Zamzam Packaging Factory in
Kudai, Makkah, will be stored at
various points in India which will
be delivered to the Hajis once they
return from Saudi Arabia after the
pilgrimage.
The arrangements have been
made to lessen the difculties
of Hajis who already have heavy
luggage with them during return.
Such arrangement is expected
to help airlines in managing load
during return journey.
The arrangement was put into
place last year. However, at that
time, only Saudi Arabian Airlines
was able to implement it. This
year, Air India too is expected to
Assam CM wishes Hajj pilgrims in Guwahati
relatives at Hajji Mushar Khana in
Guwahati. On the occasion he also
felicitated 10 pilgrims.
The other ministers who were
present on the occasion also ap-
pealed for universal brotherhood
through the pilgrims.
We regard these pilgrims as
messenger of peace, harmony and
brotherhood. I hope they would
carry the message of love and
brotherhood to that part of the
world. I wish for a safe journey for
the pilgrims from our region and at
the same time we will wait eagerly
to receive them warmly, said As-
sam agriculture minister Nilamoni
Sen Deka.
This year altogether 4064 pil-
grims will go for the holy trip in
Saudi Arabia which is about 1000
more than the previous year from
the northeastern states excluding
Tripura. The pilgrims from Assam,
Manipur, Nagaland and Meghalaya
go to J eddah from Guwahati air-
port.
The pilgrims of Tripura go from
Kolkata. The Hajj reception com-
mittee has already made the ar-
rangements to cater the pilgrims.
The rst batch of 240 pilgrims will
start their journey on August 27
from Guwahati Airport at 6.30 pm.
Nekibur Zaman, Chairman of
Northeast Hajj Reception Commit-
tee said that they are made all the
necessary arrangements to cater
the needs of the pilgrims at Hajji
Mushar Khana and at the airport
as well.
We are trying our best so that
the pilgrims do not have to face
any trouble. We have put our vol-
unteers in place to assist the pil-
grims at their needs. We have also
placed a money exchange centre
here so that they can be ready
from here itself, Zaman said.
On the occasion, Labbaika the
souvenir of the Hajj Reception
Committee was also released.
Indian Hajis limited to bring 5-litre of Zamzam but will be
provided with hi-tech facilities during pilgrimage
follow the same procedure, the
report said.
Of the 136,020 Indian pilgrims
arriving this year, 100,020 would
be coming through the Hajj
Committee of India. Saudi Arabian
Airlines will carry 49,230 while Air
India will transport 50,790 from 21
embarkation points. The remaining
36,000 pilgrims will come through
private tour operators.
Negotiations were in progress
with Air India about transporting
Zamzam containers on return
ights, following the Saudia
model, Indian Consul General BS
Mubarak was quoted as saying by
Arab News.
There are certain issues back
home in India, but we are very
optimistic that this will be sorted
out, and Air India too will follow
the Saudia pattern, he said.
Pilgrims leaving from Makkah
or Madinah will not need to carry
their luggage to J eddah or Madinah
airports. It will be collected by
the airlines from the pilgrims
accommodation in
the two holy cities 24
hours in advance, said
Mubarak. This makes
it easier for the pilgrims
because they are free
to travel with only their
hand luggage.
Present arrangement
is anticipated to remove
inconveniences or delays caused
due to luggage as observed by the
airline authorities in last few years.
Indian Hajj pilgrims will be
provided with hi-tech facilities this
year
Nearly 1,40,000 Indian Hajj
pilgrims are expected to go to
Saudi Arabia this year who will
be beneted by several high-tech
apps, including Google Maps, to
facilitate hassle-free pilgrimage.
As per Indian Hajj Mission, the
plan is to use every available tool
and gadget to keep pilgrims in
their loop of communication.
We will make use of every
form of new-age technology, from
Google Maps and smartphone
applications, to Facebook, YouTube
clips and text messages, to make
the journey of our pilgrims as
comfortable as possible, Indian
Consul General B S Mubarak was
quoted as saying by Arab News.
One of the major problems
that Indian pilgrims encounter
during Haj is losing their way
and being unable to nd their
accommodation, especially in the
tent city of Mina, which is where
most of the rituals are conducted,
Mubarak said.
An Internet-based, user-friendly
smartphone application that is
compatible with both Android
and Apple operating systems has
been launched to address this
issue. Special application for the
purpose is named as Indian Haji
Accommodation Locator.
Once downloaded, all you have
to do is click on the apps icon and
enter any pilgrims cover number
or passport number and you will
get comprehensive details about
their accommodation, including
building number, tent number or
maktab(ofce) number, plus an
easy-to-follow satellite or a regular
road map that will lead you to their
location, whether in Makkah, Mina
or Madinah, Mubarak said.
The consul general said every
pilgrim coming from India is
provided with a Saudi cellphone
SIM card which they activate upon
arrival.
The rst Indian Hajj ight will
arrive in Madinah on August 27
from Kolkata, while the rst ight in
J eddah will arrive on September 7
from Aurangabad in Maharashtra.

THE TIMES OF LEAGUE
Shortly after the latest ceasere
expired in Gaza on Friday, J acob
Bender gingerly climbed the
steps of the mimbar, the pulpit at
the Islamic Society of Delaware.
A J ew in a mosque, his hands
palpably quivering but his reedy
voice steady, he read some brief
comments to close the afternoons
worship service, called J umaa.
Mr. Bender offered both hope
and censure, twinned: Muslims
and J ews could still be partners for
peace and justice, he said. Israel
and Hamas shared responsibility
for the current carnage, he
added, and more hatred would
lead to more violence, while
love would lead to reconciliation.
After he nished those words, he
intoned the J udaic funeral prayer,
El Malei Rachamim, adapting its
English translation to remember
the victims in Gaza. He closed the
prayer by saying amen, and the
several hundred men and women
replied in kind. Then, unbidden,
they joined in sustained applause.
It was an emblematic moment
for an unusual man. For the
past 10 months, Mr. Bender has
served as executive director for
the chapter of the Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)
in Philadelphia the rst non-
Muslim to ever hold such a high-
ranking position within CAIR, as
the council is commonly known.
I feel like Im living out a certain
J ewish prophetic stance, albeit in
a Muslim organisation, Mr. Bender
(64) said. Ive wanted to play a
role as a bridge-builder, and I just
couldnt do it in the organised
J ewish community because I insist
on washing Israels dirty laundry.
That chosen role has made Mr.
Bender a reviled gure among
some J ews. He has been assailed
on the Internet as CAIRs court
J ew and an Interfaith-schlock-
peddler. Yet the effects of the
unrest may put Mr. Bender
in the position of interlocutor
between Muslims and J ews in
America during a volatile time.
Mr. Benders path toward his
present perch began as the child of
secular J ewish immigrants in Los
Angeles who taught him Yiddish
as his rst language and took him
to ban the bomb rallies as a six-
year-old. While earning a degree
in religious studies at University
of California, Los Angeles, Mr.
Bender discovered the history of
Muslim and J ewish coexistence,
known as Convivencia, during
the Moorish era in Spain.
That period became not just
his scholarly interest but also the
centre of a kind of belief system,
a vanished Eden that needed
to be recreated by modern
peacemaking. While developing
his career as a lmmaker in the
1970s and 1980s, Mr. Bender
also served as a volunteer or paid

was considered radical. He also
lived in Israel for seven years over

Holocaust museum in J erusalem.
In the J ewish religious

willing listeners only among the

has treated him as an outcast.

the plurality and diversity of India
and also of establishing social
justice by equitable distribution of
wealth and resources was handed
over to Prof. M.K.Sanu by J ustice
V.R. Krishna Iyer (Chief Patron of
IIDI) at his residence on 6-8-2014
at 3.30 pm. The Memorandum
plead the government to attach the
highest priority for the great dream
of a sustainable development to
the entire nation, maintaining the
communal harmony and peace,
proving that our nation is the
best in the world in respecting
human values and sustainable
developments. Further it pleads
to allow the interest free banking
system based on the following
facts:
Interest-free Banking &
Finance has functioning models
in more than 70 countries around
the globe. Many Western banks
have opened Participatory banking
windows and they cater to the
needs of all faith communities.
Their success has prompted even
the Government of India to consider
approval of Interest-free Finance
as one among the solutions to
present day problems faced by the
Indian economy. (Ref: Raghuram
Rajan Committee Report). The
fundamental objective of the
interest-free banking system
is to eliminate exploitation of
borrowers. It considers lending
as an investment and distributes
investment risk between the users
and suppliers of funds. It has
been proven that the interest-free
banking shall be a vital tool to
achieve the following:
1. Development and growth
of the Indian banking sector
2. Foreign participation in
large-scale infrastructure projects
3. Move into the league of
major nancial centers of the
world
4. Active participation of
some 20 percent Indian citizens
living in the country and abroad in
banking and nancial activities
5. Ethical nancing based on
sharing approach, which will help
uplift the poor and boost SMEs
7. Realization of an immense
underlying potential for growth
and protability through banking
services for more than 20 crores
of Indians.

Delhi State IUML membership Campaign in full swing
When I read Muslims have
lowest living standards in India
I began to wonder do religious
beliefs have any effect on ones
poverty? . Can a Muslim layman
provide himself with same
opportunities to earn his wealth?
I wouldnt say Islam provides
same number of opportunities
but it provides equal number of
opportunities to earn wealth. Great
Muslim empires led the world with
exceptional economic system,
science, philosophy, culture and
prosperity for a long time.
Many Muslims regard their
relative poverty as something that
in part at least, has been imposed
upon them by the West. They see
the distribution of wealth in the
world as unjust. But how far Wealth
distribution, economic policies
of different political powers in
different countries are responsible
for widening gap of technological,
industrial & economical growth
in many Christian dominant
countries when compared to
Muslim dominant countries? Or
is it because we in Islam give
more importance for preparation
of next life (Life after death) by
conformance to Islamic morality
and are not at all concerned with
material gain in the current life?
Yes, material gain in current
life is secondary to conformance
of Islamic morality but economic
peace and prosperity is equally
important to maintain conformance
of morality. Rather the reason for
widening economic gap is more to
do with complacency in research
and development & Ignorance on
Islamic core pillars i.e. perspective
of Quran and Hadhees.
The economics of wealth
generation
The level of income in an
economy is related to the volume
of goods and services produced i.e
factors of production: 1) Natural
resources, 2) Physical resources
and 3) Human resources.
Regarding 1st Factor, the
Natural resources of Muslims
society i.e Land and other
valuable properties, its protection,
utilization and acquiring donations
with excuse or ignorance on
Halal & Haram (i.e. Permissible
or not permissible in sharia law)
many Muslims against Quran &
Hadees either involved in every
nancial product which are driven
by interest or barely managing to
40%. As a group, these countries
have the lowest female labour
force participation rate in the
world. One of the lowest gures is
Saudi Arabia with 16%. The major
economic impact of low female
participation is due to the fact that
one-income families have lower
incomes than two income families.
If these women were engaged
in paid employment, increasing
the labour force by 30%, it is not
unreasonable to assume there
would be an additional contribution
to national income of around 10%.
Apart from above major reasons,
there are other social evils crept in
to the Muslims societies forming a
vicious cycle of further economic
degradation such as Lack of
education, Unemployment, dowry,
extravagant spend ing in marriages
etc.
In Conclusion the ideas proposed
for Muslims economic development
in India in accordance with Sharia
Law are mentioned below
1) Introduction of Islamic
Economic system and Islamic
banking in Muslim minority
schools, to be able to prepare next
generation establish Islamic
2) Organising events to motivate
and attract budding entrepreneurs
to present their business Ideas in
a forum and thus attract investors
3) Effective utilisation of Gold
as investment to bring in ow of
funds for increased prots and
economic opportunities
We are behind in the race not
because we were pushed back
rather we choose to be behind,
Its not a time to argue small
issues on rafadain, length of beard
or length of ones trouser, its
time to wake up from ignorance,
reunite and clear the difference
in Technological, Industrial and
Economic standards in accordance
with sharia Law. And secure our
seat in J annah Insha`Allah
Muslims & their self inicted poverty
By Abdulla Umer Khan,
are being handled by Waqf board
as per Indian constitution. But
little knowledge about the board
and means to benet from it are
very negligible in Muslim societies.
Whereas 2nd Factor i.e. Physical
resources are however are man-
made. Thanks to so called Muslim
scholars for terming almost every
new technology as evil and keeping
Muslim societies away from all the
technology even Sound systems,
Television even Computers at the
beginning. While most were busy in
further research and development
and begin to dominate industrial
revolution, many Muslim societies
were busy in arguing whether its
permissible as per sharia law or
not!
When the capitalistic economy
started to overpower the world,
our scholars further continued
to shut the door on providing
alternative economic policies till
late 21st century. Even today
stay away by depriving themselves
with nancial liberty. Today
a muslim layman is confused
whether he can avail insurance or
any savings schemes, Plan his and
his childrens future by providing
them with quality education or
accumulating physical assets or
resources for better productivity
and income.
Apart from above mentioned
we certainly lack direction from
Muslim scholars (Religious and non
religious) few other limitations on
Human Resources i.e 3rd Factor.
People need to be educated and
trained in order to make use of
the physical capital; Education is
a form of investment in human
capital.
As per recent gures from the
International Labour Organization,
published by the World Bank,
indicates that in the Middle East
and North Africa, women comprise
28% of the total labour force
whereas the world average is
