 Rangoon, December 9Amidst severe criticism against detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi fromstate-owned media for making her two letters to Senior General Than Shwe publicbefore reaching the latter, Minister for Relations Aung Kyi held 45 minutes talkswith Aung San Suu Kyi this afternoon at the Green Bank State Guest House inRangoon.Though the contents of this 45 minutes talks are still not available, as of now AungSan Suu Kyi and her party the National League for Democracy ( NLD ) have comeunder fire from all three state-owned newspapers of this morning’s issue, whichaccused the Noble Laureate and the NLD of making an attempt to force thegovernment into a corner “by dishonest use of the foreign media.”In a major article carried by all three state-owned newspapers of this morning’sissue, the state-owned media in particular attacked Aung San Suu Kyi and the NLDfor making her two letters to Senior General Than Shwe public before reaching thelatter.In directly attacking Aung San Suu Kyi, the news article said: “The two letterswritten by her reflect her dishonesty. She should have approached the governmentin an honest way in order to work out the stalemate. In practice her two lettersare designed to tarnish the image of the ruling government, putting all the blameon it.”Continuing its attack of Aung San Suu Kyi, the news article said: “A thoroughreview shows that it was she and her party that had called for internationalsanctions against Burma. But only when the US announced to introduce the policyof sanctions plus direct relations with Burma, would she offer to work togetherwith the government to lift sanctions.”The news article then recalled that Aung San Suu Kyi has written her first letter toHead of State offering to cooperate with the government on lifting the sanctionsagainst Burma.“This letter was made public by the NLD on September 29, 2009, before it reachedto Senior General Than Shwe,” the article pointed out.Similarly Aung San Suu Kyi wrote second letter dated November 11, 2009, to SeniorGeneral Than Shwe offering to cooperate with the government in nation buildingtasks.“Both these two letters were sent to Senior General Than Shwe by post.
