NASA STI Program in Profle
Since its ounding, the National Aeronautics and SpaceAdministration (NASA) has been dedicated to the ad- vancement o aeronautics and space science. Te NASAScientic and echnical Inormation (SI) programplays a key part in helping NASA maintain this impor-tant role.Te NASA SI program operates under the auspices o the Agency Chie Inormation Ocer. It collects, orga-nizes, provides or archiving, and disseminates NASA’sSI. Te NASA SI program provides access to theNASA Aeronautics and Space Database and its publicinterace, the NASA technical report server, thus pro- viding one o the largest collections o aeronautical andspace science SI in the world. Results are published inboth non-NASA channels and by NASA in the NASASI report series, which include the ollowing reporttypes:
Technical Publication:
z
Reports o completed researchor a major signicant phase o research that present theresults o NASA programs and include extensive dataor theoretical analysis. Includes compilations o sig-nicant scientic and technical data and inormationdeemed to be o continuing reerence value. NASAcounterpart o peer-reviewed ormal proessional pa-pers but has less stringent limitations on manuscriptlength and extent o graphic presentations.
Technical Memorandum:
z
Scientic and technicalndings that are preliminary or o specialized interest,e.g., quick release reports, working papers, and bibli-ographies that contain minimal annotation. Does notcontain extensive analysis.
Contractor Report:
z
Scientic and technical ndingsby NASA-sponsored contractors and grantees.
Conference Publication:
z
Collected papers rom scien-tic and technical conerences, symposia, seminars, orother meetings sponsored or co-sponsored by NASA.
Special Publication:
z
Scientic, technical, or histor-ical inormation rom NASA programs, projects, andmissions, ofen concerned with subjects having sub-stantial public interest.
Technical Translation:
z
English-language translationso oreign scientic and technical material pertinentto NASA’s mission.Specialized services also include creating custom the-sauri, building customized databases, and organizingand publishing research results. For more inormation about the NASA SI program, seethe ollowing:Access the NASA SI program home page at
