PreambleForward boldly into the future – For our country.
We are leaving the despondency of the past behind with a bold outlook for the future. Wewant to give our country a new direction. The freedom to exercise responsibility will serve asthe compass of this centrist coalition. We will ensure Germany is amongst the world leadersin education, science and research in order to enable future generations to live in a countrymarked by prosperity, justice and security. We want to shape the future with this new way of thinking.Voters have given the CDU, CSU and FDP the mandate to form a government during theworst financial and economic crisis since the establishment of the Federal Republic of Germany. We want to lead our country out of the crisis into a new start in the new decade.Germany has shown on more than one occasion that it has the strength to overcome greatchallenges. With a concerted effort we will lead our country into a better future. It is crucialto learn from previous mistakes and to avoid repeating them.
