We need
MUSEUM DOCENTS
able to volunteera little bit of time!!
Congratulations to our 2 new volunteers who re-sponded last month. Welcome to the Museum!
We are looking for 2 more new docents to show ourguests the Museum. It is fun and interesting becausewe meet alot of great people who come through fortours. It is easy to learn about the Museum and wewill train you on how to docent. We docent on Sun-days from 2-4:30 p.m. You will be able to choosewhich Sunday each month works best for yourschedule. We are a fun group and the more docents we have, the more fun we have! Earlier this year our volun-teer docents had their annual Appreciation Lunch-eon at Adams Basin Inn. It was a wonderful time
getting together and being the ―tourists‖.
Call me now to join our group for just a few hours
once a month. You’ll be glad you called and you’ll
be helping us, too.
Paula Koerner (227-5365)One of our visitors left a digital camera at themuseum in November. If you think it is yoursgive us a call and identify the camera and wewill arrange to have it returned.

3Volunteers are the lifeline of every non-profit organization, but especially ours because we are opento the public. We need help to greet visitors and escort them through the house and museum, which isnot only a very pleasant job but your time helping here is also very rewarding! Our visitors enter through the front door and immediately admire our beautiful farm house, now anhistorical center. Greeters are necessary to guide and welcome them. As they proceed to the exhibit hall,
they are very impressed and often say “I didn’t know that we have such a great museum in Greece!”
No one is expected to be here every Sunday; however, even once a month on Sunday afternoons from2 until 4:30 pm would be great! Some groups come by appointment on other days and people who have flexible availability find thisappealling. Special events that draw visitors and a great museum shop are also opportunities to welcome people. You can choose yourhours to volunteer and training is quick and easy. We also have an annual Volunteers Luncheon which we all enjoy. We truly value our volunteers and have initiated an annual Volunteer of the Year award in honor of Dorothea Schommer, whopassed away this year. Dorothea was the epitome of what a volunteer should be. She was cheerful and optimistic, had great skills inrelating history to adults and children, loved to meet people, was expert at creating exhibits and was always very willing to work asneeded in many aspects of our Greece Museum. The Volunteer of the Year award will be presented at our annual May meeting.
