Jeff Ubl Tvenge Architects204 E. Broadway Ave.Bismarck, ND 58501September 27, 2009Dear Jeff Ubl,I am a third year architecture student at North Dakota StateUniversity. I am from Williston, ND and I hope to work on thewestern plains. I am excited to try to bring architectural designto the people of the plains. I have reviewed your firm and yourlocal projects. I also like your material use and poetics withinmany of your projects. I am interested in an internship positionwithin your firm.I am eager to bring many resources to your firm while buildingmy profession as an aspiring architect. While working toward aMasters of Architecture at NDSU, I have gained experience withRevit, AutoCad, Google Sketch-up, and I am currently learning3dsMax. Beyond technology, I enjoy hand drafting andrendering. I am enthusiastic about the human elementintroduced in this style. I have been professionally trained touse a variety of medium to achieve an interesting and dramaticquality to drawings. One of which has become an awardwinning drawing. I also have experience in many constructionprocesses and understand how things are put together on atechnical level. Two summers at McCody Concrete in Willistonhave given me many of these processes. This is what startedmy design interest. I strive to find design and beauty that startswith the excavation crew. Simple, easy to build design that ispainless to maintain is surely beautiful to the client, and isbeautiful for the Architect. I also am very interested in thepossibilities of materials. I enjoy using materials in contradictionwith logic. Craft is always important to me as it reflects directlyon my work. I am excited to get a taste of client relationships aswell as firm teamwork. I am eager to work within your team andI hope to gain some real-world experience.I would like to discuss in person the open position wheneverpossible. I can be reached anytime at my phone as well asemail. I look forward meeting with you.
