Description
Action! Race War To Door Wars, Details the life history of Joe Owens, one of the best-known far-right activists in the United Kingdom. Involved in Nationalist politics for over twenty years, he became personal bodyguard to BNP Chairman Nick Griffin.
Accompanying Griffin on trips to Europe, he also guarded French NF Chairman Jean-Marie Le Pen on his visit to Britain. Shielding Le Pen during violent counter-demonstrations Owens made world news…
From a childhood spent in Liverpool’s tough back streets and involvement in juvenile crime, he developed into a political soldier – a role he was tailor-made to play.
His early political activities were with the National Front, bloody clashes with far-left opponents ensured that Nationalist politics could be heard in the city centre streets. When political in fighting caused the Front to implode into four factions, Owens followed John Tyndall’s New National Front. This hard-line grouping developed into the British National Party.
Owens continued his personal struggle, and jailed for twelve months in 1983 for politically motivated offences. Emerging from prison, he returned to the fray. Immersing himself in the culture of eastern martial arts, he attained national recognition of his abilities. He turned his new found talents against the hated ‘reds’ with ruthless proficiency. His very name sent shivers down the spine of anti-fascist activists…
Finally leaving politics, he carved a niche for himself in the world of door security. He applied the lessons learned in political struggle to this new spere of activity, and rapidly rose to the top. In this cutthroat business, he not only survived but also prospered.
However, there was a price to be paid and was jailed for weapons offences whilst defending his ‘turf’.
Free once more, he rapidly regained his former pre-eminence. Gangland shoot-outs and showdowns saw Owens once more a top target for the police. Arrested, charged and acquitted of murder, he was arrested over a string of gangland killings. Unable any longer to work in security due to police harassment and/or political pressure, he returned to the party fold.
Condemned by political opponents and the media, Owens suffered injuries, imprisonment and even an assassination attempt. Follow his life’s journey in this blockbuster autobiography.
