The New York State School Report Card is an important partof the Board of Regents effort to raise learning standards for allstudents. It provides information to the public on the school’sstatus under the State and federal accountability systems,on student performance, and on other measures of schooland district performance. Knowledge gained from the schoolreport card on a school’s strengths and weaknesses can be usedto improve instruction and services to students.State assessments are designed to help ensure that allstudents reach high learning standards. They show whetherstudents are getting the knowledge and skills they needto succeed at the elementary, middle, and commencementlevels and beyond.
