FOOL

You lied because you were weak

You smiled because you could not speak
You apologised because there was nothing else you could do
You were left empty, a crying fool

Your sympathy smothers you and that’s too bad

You’ve drunk yourself sad, you look glad
I’d pull you up but you’d drag yourself down
I should stamp on your laughter, smile on your frown

Its over and done, but was not meant

Don’t talk of love, that’s long spent
I scream at your refection, for that’s all I see
A pointless image a shameful mockery

Your sympathy smothers you and that’s too bad

You’ve drunk yourself sad, you look glad
I’d pull you up but you’d drag yourself down
I should stamp on your laughter, smile on your frown
