AMOM Greetings and Happy Holidays to you. May 2010 be a banner year for all.

Home
Notice our new address and the photo to the left. We no longer live out of
Office a suitcase! (or semi trailer). The Foundation has leased this 6800 sq. ft.
heated warehouse with three offices, a small parts rooms and a break
room/meeting room. We started moving in December 15th. The semi has
arrived and will be unloaded in the next couple of weeks. Then the chore
begins to refurbish everything for the start of the 2010 season.

I will be filling office #1 (the one closest to the rest rooms was selected
for me…was that an age thing ???).

Office #2 is now occupied by Reggie Monson, our new General Manager in

charge of the building complex and dental equipment repairs,
maintenance and replacement, shipping and receiving. He also is in
charge of event setting up and breaking down our equipment.

Office #3 has been set up for an Administrative Assistant. That position

will be filled in early spring and will take charge of our web site, daily
business activities, maintaining inventory control, event interface,
foundation correspondence and writing this news letter on a more
frequent basis that I have been able to accomplish in the past.

The three of us will be the staff that attends most events, augmented by
the dedicated volunteers who offer to join us.

Many thanks to Dr. Jeff Stasch and Dr. Jon Tilton for helping Reg. and me
with the initial phases of the move.
A couple events………

IMOM
Newton, Iowa…….ever been there??? We hadn‟t. It was quite an
IMOM
experience! The event was held in the infield of an IROC race track!
(Reminded some of us of the Kansas Speedway event in 2003.) The good
folks from Iowa saw 1556 patients, with patient care worth over
$845,000.00, topping their first event last year in Waterloo by about
25%! Congratulations to Dr. Hettinger, Dr Rabideaux, Sarah Dixon Gale,
Dr. Patricia Meredith and all the other wonderful volunteers at IMOM!
Notice the AmeriCorps kids in the pic. again !

Oh, a personal note- had an opportunity to fly around the 7/8 mile high-
banked track in an IROC race car (as a passenger). Always dreamed of
doing something like that, but at age 71, it was almost more of a thrill
that I could handle. Checkers….I think I‟m going back to playing
checkers!

We have also been in Brighton, Colorado since the last Voices was
published. Brighton- just North of Denver. The COMOM volunteers came
out in droves once again. Thought the 1300 patients seen was slightly
COMOM less than in previous years, more procedures were performed thus the
value of the free services provided was up-
-1300 patients, $973,000 in services. The event was headed up by Dr.
Pasco Scarpella. A special thanks to our good friends, board member Dr.
John Hanck, perennial COMOM and AMOM champions, Dr. Tom Pixley. and
Molly Pereria.

They grow „em tall in Colorado, or is that a tree?

The America‟s Dentists Care Foundation Board met for our annual
meeting in October in Chicago. New committees were formed, a strategic
business plan was developed that included renting warehouse space and
Board MTG. hiring operations personnel. One of the exciting new efforts to come
forth was the development of a Council of MOMs. A forum for dedicated
mom volunteers from every state to exchange ideas and experiences and
to provide input to the Board and each other based on those experiences
as we all continually strive to do more better. The structure for this great
new concept is now under development and will be published soon.

A Finance Committee was also established to develop plans for our next
two 100-unit sets of equipment. We are growing so rapidly that the next
units may be needed before we complete the 2010 schedule.

Here are the numbers from 2009 of states events where we provided
direct support:

Springdale, AR., ArMoM - 1,970 patients $ 827,675.00 in care

Other news:

Werner Enterprises has partnered with us to provide transportation to all

our events. This greatly reduces the cost to the states for shipping the
equipment.
OTHER New Sullair filtered air driers mean we now provide medical quality air at
all events.
NEWS
We‟ve added five new central suction devices that eliminates the need of
continuously emptying bottles at each operatory.

We‟ve built new quick connect umbilical‟s that allow for faster set up.
This was accomplished at a work weekend in Garden City, Kansas.

Amalgam separators are now also available at each event.

We are the proud owner of a fork lift thanks to Mike Alexander.

In the works: New stainless steel sterilizer sinks

New smaller improved delivery unit and new patient chairs

Improved shipping containers, Centralized water supply.

Again this year as in the past two years we are especially thankful to be
Champions of the national Give Kids A Smile Program.
Of the patients our states treat, approximately 15% to20% are children.

As I sit here on Christmas Day providing you our information (basically

because we‟re snowed in, its 10 degrees outside with a 40 mph North
wind blowing across the frozen Kansas plains) I can‟t help but also reflect
on the great work that Dr. Terry Dickinson of the Virginia Mission of
Mercy and Dr. Richard Smith of the Texas Mission of Mercy do. They are
both valued ADCF Directors and though we don‟t add their numbers to
ours in this report, their MOM efforts are every bit as important. They are
our mentors. Without them there would have been no “ MOM” program
such as this. Thank you Drs.

A safe, happy and blessed new year to all.
