Code 7 in the Qur’an
The following are observed in the Qur’an:

[1] The first surah, Al Fatehah, has 7 verses

[2] The first number to be mentioned is 7

[3] The first surah that has a verse for prostration is

Surah No. 7

[4] The first kalimah ‘Allah’ mentioned in Surah Al

Baqarah is in verse 7

[5] The maximum number that the kalimah ‘Allah’ is

mentioned in a verse is 7, in Surah Muzzammil, Verse 20
[6] The 7th surah counting from surah An-Naas is Surah Al
Kautsar. It is the only surah which does not contain any
letter “mim”

[7] The number of times the 7 heavens are mentioned is 7

and the number of times the phrase “established on His
Throne” is also 7

[8] Surah Yasin (the heart of the Qur’an) contains 7

‘mubin’. The 7th ‘mubin’ is found at verse 77.
[9] Both Prophet Adam (a.s.) and Prophet Isa
(a.s.) are mentioned 25 times. The first time
their names are mentioned together in the
same verse is at the 7th time each of their
names are mentioned (Surah No. 3, verse 59)

“Verily, the likeness of Isa before Allah is

the likeness of Adam…”
[10] In Surah Al Kahf the word ‘cave’ is mentioned 7
times. The maximum number of people
mentioned is also 7

[11] Surah An-Nahl mentions 7 types of liquids:

sperm, water, blood, milk, date juice, grape juice
and honey

created the heavens and earth in 6 days
(period) is 7

[14] The word sabbath is mentioned 7 times

(“Sabbath” - abstinences for the Jewish
people, is on the seventh day of the week)

[15] Prophet Hud (a.s.) is mentioned 7 times.

The first time he is mentioned is in Surah
No. 7
[16] The Qur’an is made up of all the 28 (7x4) letters of
the Arabic alphabet

[17] In Surah Al Hijr, Verse 9:

“Verily, We, it is We Who have sent down the

Dhikr (Qur’an) and surely We will guard it (from
corruption).”

This verse contains 28 (7 x 4) letters equivalent to

the no. of letters of the Arabic alphabet. It starts
with an ‘Alif’ and ends with a ‘Nun’ just like in the
Qur’an, the first Al Muqattaat letter is ‘Alif” and
the last is ‘Nun’. It consists of 7 letter ‘Nun’
suggesting that the Qur’an has a large percentage
of its verses ending with letter ‘Nun’.
[18] There are 14 (7x2) Al Muqatta’at (Abbreviation
letters) or Futuhat (Introductory letters) eg Alif
Lam Mim, Ya Sin, Ta Ha etc

[19] These 14 Al Muqatta’at form 14 (7x2) different

symbols (spreading over 29 chapters)

[20] Of the 14 (7x2) Surahs with the command for

prostrations, 7 of them contains Al Muqatta’at. The
7th is one which begins with “Yaa ayyuhal ladzi na
amanu”
[21] There are 7 consecutive chapters that begin with the
initials “Ha Mim” (Surah No. 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46)

[22] Only in Surah 42 (7x6), there are 2 sets of Al

Muqatta’at in separate verses : Ha Mim and Ain Sin Qaf

[23] The surah that has the phrase “wa ma adra kama*”
and is answered with the most number of times (i.e. 10
times repeatedly) is Surah Al Mursalat or Surah No 77.
In this surah, this question is asked at verse no.14 (7x2)
with the last (10th ) answer is at verse no.49 (7x7)
[24] Between the first surah with “wa ma adra
kama” (Surah 69) and the last one (Surah
104), there are exactly 28 (7x4) surahs.

[25] The number of surahs that has verses which

command for prostrations is 14 (7x2) as
agreed by all scholars. However, Imam
Syafi’e suggested prostration at Surah Al
Hajj, verse 77. As such, this becomes the 7th
verse for prostrations.

*: ‘And what will make you know what…’

[26] The last surah that mentions the name “Allah” is
surah No. 112 (7x16)

[27] Both Surah Al Fatehah & Surah Al Ma’uun consist

of 7 verses and have their name spelt with 7 letters.
Both of them are related to solat.

[28]* Between the first surah that mentions the

number 7 (i.e. surah no. 2:29) and the last surah that
mentions the number 7 (i.e. surah no.78:12), there
are exactly 77 (or 7x11) surahs.
