Chicago Teachers Union Directions for Candidate Evaluation Completion ‘Thank you for your interest in an endorsement from the Chicago Teachers Union. We look forward to assessing your candidacy and potentially working together in the future. ‘The CTU’s Framework for Candidate Evaluation (attached) differs from a traditional endorsement questionnaire in that we do not actually ask any questions. Instead, we evaluate evidence that you provide. We believe this approach gives us a more complete understanding of a candidate and ‘campaign. Our evaluation is broken into three domains with components in each. To complete the evaluation, please provide evidence for each area in the chart below. There is no particular requirement on the type of evidence required. For instance, a strong bill or ordinance for which you were the chief sponsor is powerful evidence for an incumbent. Written responses that point to specific initiatives or experience are also very effective. Generally speaking, the more specific the evidence, the more we value it. Written responses do not have to be long, however; a paragraph is usually sufficient. Media about your work (TV, newspaper articles, blog posts, etc.) are very helpful as well. Please refer to the rubric for more detailed explanations of how we assess the evidence.
