This course will develop visual art concepts and techniques of digital imaging using available
resources and tools. Students will produce original work that reflects a high degree of individual
expression. The course will facilitate the integration of technical ability with visual communication
and creative expression. ATEC 2382 will include lectures, demonstrations, assignments,
projects, presentations, and class critiques. As projects are presented, critiques will serve to
strengthen technical sills and visualization.
Identify terminology, advantages and limitations of image editing software. Students will create,
edit, and output digital image files with reasonable proficiency and understanding of the tools and
hardware. A working knowledge of composition, design elements, creativity, concept
development and visual communication is a must. A high degree of professionalism should be
reflected in the quality of the student\u2019s work. Most importantly, all students should begin the
development of conceiving, conceptualizing, and articulating ideas that contribute to the larger

Course projects and assignments are graded by points. Throughout the semester, students have the opportunity to score a total of 25 points for various in class assignments, group projects, and presentations. In addition, students will be asked regularly to capture the message of a lesson or comment on class work with blog entries called Thoughts.
Class attendance is expected. In-class assignments and Thoughts must be received
before the next class without exception. In class assignments will not be available to
make-up at a later date. Excessive absences will negatively affect the student\u2019s final
grade. If you must be absent, it is the student\u2019s responsibility to get missed information
from fellow classmates.
Excused absences and make-up work will only be considered with prior notice or in case of an emergency. (This policy is up to the discretion of the professor.) Three unexcused absences will result in one letter grade reduction.
