Yes, I'm completely in favour of legalizing prostitution . . . I don't think women will have any need for pimps if they don't have to worry about running from the law.

I think that you have to consider what 'severly deformed and mentally retarded fetus' means. I wasn't talking about the 'mentally disabled' I was talking about the severly deformed and mentally retarded fetus -- this would be the sort of fetus that you doctor would tell you not to bring to term . ..
Sorry, I took so long to get back to you, I've been out of it for a while.

"We would not want to consider a severely deformed and mentally retarded fetus to be a human being merely because it has two of the above qualities." Umm... are you saying that mentally retarded people aren't human beings? I'm Pro-choice, btw. Also, on prostitution, would you be OK with legalizing pimps if laws were made so that it is easy for prostitutes to form unions?

True enough. I was once a fetus and so was every 'person' that is now alive. When did we become people?

Did I become a person at the moment of conception, at the moment of union between sperm and ovum? Or did this happen at some later point while I was growing my mother's womb?

Perhaps I was a person before my father's sperm and my mother's ovum joined? Was I two people? Or maybe I was 2 halves of one person?

How do you know that the fetus has a human soul? - just like you may or maynot believe you have a soul

"The human fetus is merely a living human fetus not a human being. That which is a human being requires many more distinct criteria to achieve certainty that it is indeed a human being, such as a capacity to reason."

Distinct criteria you say. The capacity to reason. This is what distinguishes us from animals we reason they are instinctive. Not from being a human being. Human and human being are not different terms. The fetus is a being you can't have one without the other. The fetus is a developing human being without a start there is no finish line. If we never were fetuses after the fact then we'd not be here you would not be here.

I disagree with your position on unborn children. The classical definition of a human being is that the person has a human soul, the fact that the person may be mentally retarded or short in height, for example, should be seen as irrellevant.
