his math is not faulty, but his wording: a padlock with 40 numbers theoretically has 40*40*40=64,000 possible combinations. If you assume no numbers are repeated, it would be 40*39*38=59280 combinations.

Whoever wrote this article misses the basic math skills. With a three digit number you can only make 1000 combinations (including zero). I would like the author to present his or her 50 thousand possible combination theory. How can I possibly rely on the quality of this article written by somebody who cannot even count!
