Banaati Sunnah Dars – Muharram 21, 1431

♦ Du’a in 21:87 contains four phrases. They are considered the best
and most superior words after the quraan.
♦ The reason that this du’a if used for anything that your du’a will be
answered
♦ Most of the ulema believe this ahlus-sunnah or otherwise ijmaa
among all the sects
♦ Encompasess the beautiful names of Allah azza wa jal and his lofty
attributes.
♦ Last part of this du’a shows the reality of the situation
♦ The repentor is acknowledging the reality of the situation that he is
a wrongdoer
♦ Not fitting any believer to free themselves of wrongdoer
♦ Cannot declare ourselves to be free of wrongdoing
♦ Especially when speaking with our Rubb
♦ Two ahadeeth mentioned regarding this du’a in saheehayn
o Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, reported:
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: It is not
proper for a slave that he should say: I am better than
Yunus (Jonah) son of Matta (Matthew) is the name of his
father.
o It is related from Abu Hurayra that the Prophet, may
Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Whoever says
that I am better than Yunus ibn Matta has lied."
♦ The meaning of this hadith is not literal
♦ The meaning is that he has no need to believe that he is a
wrongdoer
♦ Yunus admitting that he was a wrongdoer even though he was
among the best of the creation is a hujjah against the believers
♦ Ibn Taymiyyah
♦ Must have reliance hope and fear in Allah azza wa jal alone
♦ An-naam 6:13 – And if Allâh touches you with harm, none
can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then
He is Able to do all things.
♦ Sins are cause for the onset of harm and repenting removes its
causes
♦ Anfal 8:33 – And Allâh would not punish them while you
(Muhammad SAW) are amongst them, nor will He punish
them while they seek (Allâh's) Forgiveness.
♦ Remorse is the first step of tawbah
♦ They were shy to remove that harm being the last thing that they
would ask for as if they did not deserve having punishment
removed
♦ Should not worry about money and be miserly since the bird has
♦ Ash-Shura 42:30 – And whatever of misfortune befalls you, it
is because of what your hands have earned. And He pardons
much.
♦ Ongoing istighfar also removes sins
