Nicad, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries should be recycled.
Be environmentally conscious - do NOT throw these batteries in the trash.
If you don't know where your local recycling facility is, call the
Portable Rechargeable Battery Association at 1-800-822-8837.
They will provide you with the address of the recycling center nearest to you.

My work has battery collection areas, so I think people are starting to get on the ball about recycling these things.

i think they reclaim the toxic metals and use them again. a lot of electronics even have gold and other precious metals that have market value.
