The web and new media co-ordinator (WNMC) will be working for Australian GreensSenator Rachel Siewert to manage and produce external communications for SenatorSiewert and the Greens Senate team, with a specific focus on web and new mediastreams and/or graphic design.The position would suit a recent graduate or student with good web/IT or graphicdesign skills and an interest in politics.The primary responsibility of this role is to support the existing communications staffand maximise the potential for a range of online communication modes to effectivelypromote the work of the Australian Greens Senators in parliament.The position reports to Senator Rachel Siewert - with oversight provided by SenatorBrown's Senior Media Adviser - and will liaise closely with the Chief of Staff and otherSenate offices.
This position is based in Canberra, joining the Green Senators’ media team. The work environment is highly dynamic, requiring all media staff to work accurately andeffectively to ensure up-to-the-minute communication of the Green message withinrapidly changing political debates.
Working with the Senior Media Adviser and communications team:• Website content and design management• Production of new media/online ads & features• Management/monitoring of web stats and figures• Co-ordination of e-list messages/campaigns• Custom coding of existing websites• Database development to optimise contact with constituents• Managing consistency/identity/branding control across allmaterials• Campaign and communication strategy development, withparticular focus on electronic and new media elements;• Monitoring/management of social network sites, blogosphere andother campaigns• Management of internal and external online communications• Effective liaison with other Greens campaigns and parliamentaryoffices around the country, and other duties as directed.
