From the Editor…

Welcome to the first edition of our newsletterwhich has been born out of two years of literaryfestivals in our beautiful seaside town of Torquay.Thank you to our sponsors past and present,and those waiting in the wings.Our festival is unique to Torquay and, in agrowing town, we aim to involve everyone in ahands-on approach to Literature.Our first meeting for the year will be at the PearTree Café Shop 6, 7 Gilbert Street at 6.30pm onFriday 5 February.Come with your ideas for our festival which willbe held on Saturday and Sunday 19 & 20 June.One idea which was brought up last year, is thatwe start off on the Queen’s Birthday weekendwith a food festival and carry on through theweek, finishing with our literature festival thefollowing weekend.We could fill the first week-end with food andmusic. Do you know that we have between 40and 50 eateries in Torquay including twowineries? All run by fabulous people.For the following week we could stageperformances by both adult and school groupsduring the day and evening. Perhaps theschools might like to entertain experts in thefield of their choice as well?If you can’t make it to our meetings with yourideas, we welcome your comments on our website, which is listed at the foot of this page.If you would like to be on our mailing list, pleasego to “TryBooking” on our home page.
