Volume LXXXIII, Number 1, January, 2010
God calls us to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, the oldest Episcopal Church in Oakland County (est.
1837). Here, all who seek the love of Christ are welcome. Here, we seek to deepen our spiritual livesthrough a rich heritage of worship and music. Here, we seek to serve the wider community, as He callsus to do, through ministry and service. Here, we look to our past for inspiration and to the future withanticipation

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!Monthly Bulletin Moves toOnline Format
Beginning with the February 2010 edition,The Bulletin will no longer be distributedin bulk mail format. The Vestry and Rectorhave concluded that distributing TheBulletin primarily in online format is amore appropriate use of our financialresources, staff and volunteer time, andwill allow us to practice goodenvironmental stewardship by reducing theuse of paper and toner. We estimate thatby eliminating the need for a bulk mailingevery month we can save approximately$1200 per year, which is money that isneeded for other ministries of our parish.Instead of receiving your copy through theU.S. Mail, everyone with an email addresson file with the parish office will receiveThe Bulletin as an attachment to an email. The Bulletin will also be available for

viewing, downloading, and printing fromthe parish website. If you are unsurewhether your email address is on file withus, please send an email tonormawarner@allsaintspontiac.org and she will add your address to theelectronic mailing list.Although the new format will bedistributed primarily online, there will stillbe some paper being produced. Our shut-inparishioners and those residing at senior orassisted living communities willautomatically receive a paper copy, andthere will be paper copies available in theRose Kneale Room. Additionally, anyonewho requests to be kept on the "paper"mailing list will receive a copy by mail, although if you are a regular churchgoerplease consider whether picking up a copywhen you come on Sunday would besatisfactory. If you want to continuereceiving a mailed paper copy of TheBulletin please call Norma at the parishoffice at and let her know. The format of the monthly newsletter willalso change slightly, shifting from anannouncement-driven format to a"features" newsletter with reflections, vestry news, birthday lists, Ann Poole'swonderful "Didya Know?" column, andother features written by parishioners, committees, or ministry groups. It is myhope that more groups and individuals willcontribute to The Bulletin so that we canall be inspired and informed.
If you wouldlike to have a reflection, story, article orfeature published in The Bulletin, pleaseget your piece to Norma no later thanthe 25th of the month.
Time-sensitiveannouncements and notice of upcomingevents will be distributed by the weeklyChurchpost emails you already receive, theflat screen at church, verbalannouncements at services, and theannouncements section of the weeklyservice leaflets. In closing, I want to acknowledge that thismay be a challenging change for some ofus. The circulation of a mailed monthlynewsletter is a time-honored churchtradition, and it will not be an unusualthing for some of us to feel some sadnessor even annoyance as we shift to a newformat of receiving information. Pleaseknow that I am open to discussing anyconcerns you may have. Most importantly,I want to urge all of you not to see thischange as a symptom of decline, becauseit is not. Rather, it is a re-focusing of ourresources as we attempt to practice thebest possible stewardship of both our ownresources and that of our environment.Karen+
