Bhagvad Geeta & Management
“Mahabharata” is a true epic, which has given birth to Bhagvad Gita an ocean of bothknowledge and ethical management. Many gurus have gone comprehensively to find outthe intense meaning of each verse in Bhagvad Gita and trying to connect it to the presentworld.I am going to speak on a verse that really had made an impression on me, and am alsotrying to correlate the same with the present Management scenario.
“ Karmany
va adhikarast
maa phalesh
kadhachanaMa ka
ma phala hethu
bhooma the
stavi ka
mani “
Krishna Says, we have the right to work (Perform Karma) not to wait/aim for thefruit (for the karma performed). Keep doing your work (The karma) and the fruits(Phala) will automatically follow you.
It is really hard to understand in today’s world to “ask some one to keep doing their job, without expecting the result or fruit for the job done”. I was also quite perplexed when Iused to correlate the above with the present world.Krishna says “ Do your Karma”, Karma here refers to all noble work undertaken either for self, family, organization, or society as a whole. Karma again also means the step-to-stepwork performed by the individual or group while performing a task.More interestingly the above Karma speaks on two end results, “
First one is result of the job done”
, the “
Second one is the credit one wish to take for the same”
. The secondresult is the
“Fruit” (Phala) as told by the God Head.
Let me dwell upon the
First result
. This result is speaking on the actual job done; visa Visthe outcome of the job. An individual or **group have to endeavor, work hard, learn andshare to increase knowledge base and see to it that the objective of the job is met. Theobjective here means the goal decided by the management or organization. This result has ashadow on the individual objectives but one can never claim it as a personal achievement. It’s a Corporate or organizational achievement.** Group here can be any group defined in the organization from the Floor to the Top.The
Second result
is the expectations of the individual or group on what they are going toget benefited by doing or achieving the First result. KRISHNA says please do not expectthis result or work towards this. GOD says work for the First result and the Second resultwill follow by itself. Is it true? YES it is.
